This lovely HYDRANGEA GARDEN SIXTIETH BIRTHDAY PARTY was submitted by Emily Waltenbaugh of Smarty Parties.
I think everything about this party is so delicate and charming. This themed would be great for a garden tea party, a bridal shower, or a baby shower in addition to a birthday party!
My favorite hydrangea garden party ideas and elements in this celebration are:
- The cake frosted to look like it was covered in hydrangeas and roses
- The paper flower notes for the guest of honor
- The birdcage cookies
- The felt flower topped drink stirrers
- and MORE!

HYDRANGEA BIRTHDAY PARTY DETAILS:
Emily said this about the party– “My sisters and I threw this party to celebrate our mother’s 60th birthday and her five-year cancer-free mark. Mom/Teresa/Gigi (as she is known to her kids, friends, and grandkids, respectively) LOVES flowers, especially hydrangeas, which are luckily in season during her birthday month of June.
We rented out a local salon (Dandelion) that was closed for the day–it was the perfect bright and airy space with feminine, floral touches–and we let her favorite flower inspire the lilac-lavender-periwinkle palette of the decor and desserts.
Guests enjoyed a cake covered with butter cream hydrangea petals and a butter cream rose domed top, hydrangea and rose cupcakes, macarons, meringues, and birdcage-iced sugar cookies. We also had lavender lemonade (along with some optional vodka and St. Germain to make our signature “Gigi” cocktail) and prosecco.
Friends and family were encouraged to “pick a flower” from a table full of flower-shaped cards, and on it, write a note for the guest of honor. These lovely flower notes were then clipped to a strand of gold twine on the wall, and they made a lovely banner as the party went on.”
