Vintage Blue and Yellow Party Details:
This is what Natasha said about planning the party- “The moment I saw the sweet little boy on the Loralee Lewis vintage birthday invitation I knew this was Miller’s party stationery and inspired theme for his first birthday. A blonde haired, blue eyed sweetheart, he suited something equally as sweet and special so this party was an extension and celebration of him as a baby in his first year of life.
Set at our home with family and friends we enjoyed a gourmet salad bar with BBQ and crusty bread rolls with home-made lemonade in quilted mason jars with paper straws served in my vintage style drinks dispenser followed by a dessert buffet of cream cupcakes, blue and yellow iced donuts, blue, white and yellow sweets including marshmallows and fairy floss, lemon cheesecake in a jar and jam and cream ruffle sponge cake for the birthday cake.
I decorated the tables with pale blue and white pinstripe tablecloths with mason jars of baby’s breath flowers. The desserts were displayed on an antique buffet and Miller’s grandmother and her dear friend lovingly hand-knitted little woollen booties for Miller’s little friends which was displayed in a old trike we painted a beautiful turquoise. Using vintage floral fabric as runners and paper honeycomb balls, bunches of handmade blue and white paper pin wheels and a yellow and white stripe backdrop the living space was transformed into a cheery vintage party display perfect for my darling boy who was also styled appropriately!
Some extra special touches included the fabric crowns I handmade for the guests, a string and peg display of our favourite photos of Miller’s first year, lots of blowing bubbles and an arts and crafts table for the kids.
For a winters day, the mood and sunshine was definitely light, happy and bright – a beautiful day for our beautiful boy”.
