This delightful STRAWBERRY THEMED CHRISTENING was submitted by Gina Joy of Christening Ideas.
What a charming theme to use for a Christening. I absolutely love the contrast between the soft white and bold red used in this event. I also love all of the yummy looking strawberry desserts. This party is full of darling ideas that would work splendidly for not just a christening, but for a strawberry themed birthday party, strawberry themed tea party, or strawberry themed picnic as well.
The Strawberry party ideas and elements that I like best from this special event are:
- The glass bottles filled with vibrant red drinks and trimmed with lace around the top edge
- The beautiful lace patterned drinking glasses
- The bright red hearts placed on the white tea cup plates
- The strawberry desserts
- and MORE!
Strawberry Christening Details:
This is what Gina said about planning the party- “Are you one of the lucky ones to baptize your child during strawberry season? Then you can, without hesitation, choose this delicious berry as the theme for your celebration – an untraditional yet especially refreshing option. When decorating the venue and the table, don’t limit yourself to a strawberry motif; you can ingeniously employ the possibilities the color red has to offer – by coordinating it with traditional baptismal white, you can create a lovely contrast that is particularly festive!
For decorating the venue, you can purchase strawberry-shaped paper decorations, red and white balloons, and if you really shop around, you may even be able to find strawberry-shaped balloons or red balloons decorated with white or black polka dots. If not, you can always improvise and make them yourself – use a black marker to make polka dots on red balloons, and tie green leaves cut from paper to their ends. You can also make garland from paper strawberries, or inventively decorate garland with single artificial berries. You can also easily make green and red paper pinwheel garland to liven up the christening decor. The church can be decorated with red and green ribbons with strawberry-shaped appliqués.
You’re best off decorating the table with real strawberries, but you can also use supplemental elements of décor: a runner “strewn” with strawberries, or napkins decorated with them. Those who prefer solid color napkins should choose red, green or white ones. If you plan to use regular place cards to mark the seating, you should purchase or make ones with the theme berries. A more inventive solution would be to use real berries – you can tie name cards to the stems of large strawberries and then either place them on the edge of a glass or on a plate (if you choose the latter, strawberries dipped in white or dark chocolate would be more effective). Another interesting option would be to attach the name cards to nice, small jars of strawberry jam covered with a swath of linen and ties with a ribbon. These would also serve as favors for the guests.”
