Thanksgiving is all about traditions–whether those traditions come in the form of Aunt Myrna’s Jiggling Jello Salad, getting together for dinner at your Grandmother’s house, always taking a minute while seated at the table to talk about your blessings, or playing a game of football in the backyard before it’s time for pie.
As you can imagine, one of my favorite traditions when it comes to Thanksgiving, besides the fluffy rolls and perfectly seasoned potatoes, is creating a beautiful and memorable tablescape. I spend months thinking about and planning each year’s decor.
Coca-Cola has always been a part of our Thanksgiving feast, whether in the form of chilled bottles of soda to wash down the scrumptious meal or small cans of Sprite placed in copious amounts at the kids table that fit perfectly in those little hands–and have far less spillage when knocked over by those same chubby little hands.
This year, as I was thinking about my excitement at being able to partner with Coca-Cola, I thought I would do something a bit different with the decor. Read on and you’ll see how I use all the soda bottles sitting in the recycling bin to create a beautiful DIY Thanksgiving tablescape decorating idea.

Step 1- Paint your entire glass bottle with grey chalk paint and allow to dry.
Step 2- Brush on outdoor patio paint. It’s okay if you don’t cover entire bottle as shown above. Allow to dry.
Step 3- Brush on grey gel stain, allowing tan color to peek through in places. Allow to dry.
Step 4- Fill bottles with flowers or greenery.
Step 5- Tie twine to the top of the bottles underneath the glass lip so twine stays in place.
Step 6- String bottles above tablsecape, or anywhere your heart desires.
