Monochromatic Just Dance Birthday Party Details:

This is what Jessica shared about styling the party- “In the last year, my daughter and I started going to “Mom and Me Ballet” classes. It was evident from her first couple of sessions that she loved the music and movement. Thereafter, she could often be found twirling or singing around the house. So it was a no brainer when I decided to throw a dance party to celebrate her turning three.

While a pink ballet party would have gone over pretty well with my girlie girl, I decided to go a bit more neutral and add a small pop of my daughter’s favorite color. The result was a monochrome (black and white) palette with splashes of purple and silver mixed in. I booked a big open space at a local photo studio that proved to be perfect. It was a great spot to spread out and have a space for the kids to move about. Plus I was able to make use of one of the studio’s talented photographers to take pictures for me, which was money well spent!

The rest of the table was filled with store bought goodies, matching the color sheme, including Oreos, Ding Dongs, mini donuts and popcorn served up in black boxes.

To create the backdrop, I used my mom’s Cricut machine to cut out the cursive letters and triangles from black paper. I used double-sided tape to temporarily adhere them to the wall.

After finding a silver “party” balloon and large purple balloons I also create a minimal photo backdrop. I had intentions to do something more, but time got away from me. In any case, it was fun to have the purple be represented.

Party Set-Up

I kept the kids table setup simple with a white tablecloth, a black and white striped runner and white and purple plates. I finished it off with a disco ball and silver party hats.

The kids received goody bags, filled with treats such as star shaped bubbles, a noise maker, bracelet and cupcake Hershey kisses. They were also gifted a ribbon wand, they could use when dancing.

Another one of my amazing friends, who is a seasoned elementary teacher, offered to lead the dance portion of the party. The kids danced to classics like “Head and Shoulders, Knees and Toes”, “The Hokey Pokey” and my daughter’s favorite “Sleeping Bunnies”. They also enjoyed some new hits by the likes of Bruno Mars and Justin Timberlake.

Once they had danced and danced some more, we gathered to sing to the birthday girl and serve up the cake.

The party was a success. My daughter had the best time! In fact, the next day the first thing she asked when she woke up was, “When is my next birthday party?”As a mom who loves to throw parties, this made my heart smile. Until next year…or rather, until we can find a reason to celebrate! Something tells me it will be very soon.”
