Contemporary Scandinavian Birthday Party
Contemporary Scandinavian Birthday Party Details:
Gida shared the following- “The original plan of this party was like an “Exhibit Gallery”. I kept memorabilias from her 1st to 6th birthday. From her birthday clothes to her invites, party hats, souvenirs, birthday photos, birthday props and even the chocolate wrappers from her christening and 2nd birthday. But visualizing it seemed like a mess! So, what I did was to get some of the stuff used from her previous parties and turn it into another theme.
It was the end of an era for shabby chic parties for me. At first I didn’t know how to name it but eventualIy I came up with the term “Contemporary Scandinavian Themed Party”. Scandi design is characterized by simplicity and minimalism.
I asked Sarri what she wants for her party and I got this confusing reply, “I don’t know. I just want color green and yellow.” No theme. Just color scheme. I paused for awhile, and asked her again, Are you sure? Everything green and yellow? How about black, white and gold? She immediately answered, “No! Pag black, white & gold, party mo na yun!” I was out of words. Then after a few days, I tried asking her again and shared my new plans and voila, she said yes ( with all her heart, promise! ) Thanks to being persistent and also to my convincing powers. Just by thinking of doing a party makes me a bit tired already because, as you all know, I’m the Mama behind all their parties. The DIY mom, the stylist, the planner. Maybe some habits are just really hard to break. But I knew this one would be special.
This would be my last DIY party ( hooray!) for her. She has already agreed that on her 8th, 9th, 10th to her 17th birthday, We will just go on a trip or dine out. On her 18th, well matagal pa, but one thing is for sure, I’ll be too old for it. Maybe I would just hire an event stylist and have my peace of mind. Back to this party, when you think of a little girl’s 7th birthday, what’s the basic theme that would come to your mind? A princess themed party? Well, that is a big nope for me.
Non-Traditional Party Style!
This is a Non-traditional 7th birthday party. No princess gown, no 7 gifts, no 7 dances, no 7 wishes. Because I. Simply. Don’t. Like. It. Don’t worry, I asked Sarri and she doesn’t like the concept either. Thanks, baby! Same taste, I’m one lucky Mama! She only requested for an ice cream cart and Kuya Star (the clown). This party was everything! I put my heart into this one. I love everything about this. Plus, I displayed some birthday memorabilia I kept through the years. I bought everything online including the furniture ( it’s for sale, btw. Pm me for the prices! )
Fun for All
I made sure this party would be fun for both the kids and adults. Kids activities, arts & crafts, snap photos, games, clown entertainment, nail spa, food carts and Bingo for adults so that boredom won’t kill them. I do not want anyone getting bored during her birthday so I hope I made everyone happy and entertained, friends and family! This is also one of my favorite parties I came up with! I am happy for the “less is more” feels from the set up.
As for the birthday shoot, since it’s “sagad to the bones, dugo’t pawis” event for me, my little family traveled all the way to Manila to do three photoshoots for her. First, was by Corps d’elite, the other by Charming photographs and the family shoot in Studio Namu by Memorata photography. Spell effort? G-I-D-A lol! Just maximizing my superwoMOM powers!
Photography and Helping Hands
And how will I forget the two photographers who’s been there in all the shoots and parties I’ve made, it’s mandatory! Guys, thanks! Lester, I’ve made it! But it would have been different if you were here, you know that, because you and Taren are very supportive of me. Thank you Friend, and to all the other extra helping hands! Sarri was very very happy. The best feeling in the world! I hope you won’t forget this all your life. This is an all-out effort and all out everything. You didn’t ask all of this but it’s one of my many many ways of showing how special and loved you are. After all, I’m living for you and Carri. Today, I loved you for 7 years. And I’ll love you for a million more.”
