Under Construction Birthday Party Details:
This is what Jasper shared about the party- “Hard hats and work boots on! For a little boy who is obsessed with all things trucks, a construction-themed birthday party was a no-brainer. Instead of sending a physical invite, we opted for a simple digital option that was shared via e-mail and Facebook to family and friends.
Guests were greeted at the side gate with construction-themed signs pointing them in the direction of the “Birthday Zone.” A vintage wooden bar cart with a letter board thanked guests for coming and instructed them to grab a water bottle on their way in. The water bottles served as their favor for the event.
I created an easy menu sure to please adults and kiddos alike. Since much of what was served was pre-cut/pre-made, food prep and set-up went quickly and smoothly and was easy to prepare ahead of time. Below is a quick rundown of what was served:
– Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches cut into dump trucks and bulldozers using cookie cutters
– Pre-cut meats and cheeses
– Variety of crackers
– Cut veggies with hummus and ranch
– Fresh fruit (strawberries, blueberries, grapes, and clementines)
– Yogurt covered pretzels
– Citrus + Basil infused water and lemonade
Dessert was a combination of chocolate cupcakes with chocolate icing and crushed Oreos as well as a homemade chocolate “dirt cake” trifle. The dirt cake was topped with two construction cone-shaped candles and toy Caterpillar trucks. Each cupcake was topped with a custom designed “DIG IN” sign. I just love the way these turned out! So cute!
Guests were able to sit and enjoy the party on picnic tables with adorable construction-themed centerpieces of potted plants, “danger” signs, and toy trucks. Many also gathered on blankets and chairs set up throughout the yard.
I also set up a pint-size photo booth area for parents to take pictures of their kids. A small prop table of construction vests, plastic hard hats, safety goggles, signs, and toy toolbox was set up next to the backdrop for kids to play dress-up.”
