Glam Vintage Train Party Details:

This is what Tara said about planning the party- “I recently had the opportunity to style this Glam Vintage Train Party for my best friend’s adorable little girl, Alexis. Her two favorite toys at the moment are her choo choo trains and her tea set, so we came up with the idea to combine the two together to create a glam train themed 2nd birthday party that was every bit as girly and beautiful as a pretend tea party dreamed up by a little girl’s imagination.

I’m a huge fan of modern girly parties that have a theme more commonly associated with boys, so you can imagine my excitement when my friend trusted me 100% with the vision for the party. My goal was to give this party a girly and glamorous feel brought to life through the use of lots of pink, glitter and ruffles, with special attention given to details that Alexis would be excited about.

There is something about ruffles that just gets me every time, so the first dessert I knew I wanted to include was a pink glitter buttercream ruffle cake. To add some personalization to the cake, I made a DIY glitter train cake topper with the birthday girl’s name and age on it.

Next, I reached out to Terri of Sweet Goosie Girl to create custom glitter train cookies to coordinate with the party theme. I was blown away by her attention to detail, and especially fell in love with the edible glitter used on these preppy pretties (which were a huge hit with the birthday girl!)

With a shared love of glitter, I enlisted Audrey of Sweet Cheeks Tasty Treats to make some pink and gold glitter cake pops for the dessert table. Cake pops are one of my favorite treats to serve at a young birthday party since they are the perfect size for little hands and tummies. The cake pops were styled with a wooden rock candy stick and little aqua to tie in the vintage glam theme.

When I think of the ultimate girly dessert, the first thing that comes to mind is a delicate french macaron. I was so excited to work with Hannah of Sweets & Celebrations, who created the most elegant aqua french macaroons with a metallic gold stripe that matched the party theme perfectly. I think the adults appreciated this dessert as much, or even more so than the kids!

And last but not least, the biggest hit on the dessert table with the kiddos was the “cupcake train” made with homemade strawberry cupcakes, pink mini cupcake stands and gold glitter cupcake wrappers from Dress My Cupcake and DIY glitter train cupcake toppers.

Other decor elements on the dessert table included a gold sequin table runner from Koyal Wholesale, a glitter number 2, a hand painted wooden train toy, a personalized sign with the birthday girl’s name and age, a tassel garland and two jumbo confetti balloons from One Stylish Party. To tie in the party colors, I made a tulle rag garland banner for the backdrop with the birthday girl’s name, accented with custom pinwheel trios from Peckled.

The kids dining table included a DIY railroad train runner created with gold washi tape, a pinwheel centerpiece with railroad crossing signs inside of a vintage blue mason jar filled with white shimmer gumballs. Each place setting included an aqua plate with a large pink satin bow, gold glitter dipped forks and a pink cup with a glitter railroad sign.

My favorite part of the party was watching the birthday girl try out each and every dessert on the table, leaving a trail of edible glitter everywhere she went that day. She also giggled with excitement when she realized the pink train on the table was a real toy she could play with! I was honored to be a part of this special celebration, which couldn’t have been a more perfect day with their family and friends.”
