How slithery is this fun HALLOWEEN DIY SNAKE TABLE RUNNER!
I wanted to create something with rubber snakes this year. You know, the toy snakes you can find in the toy section or at most dollar stores? I thought they would be so creepy and cool if they were incorporated into my halloween party! So, with a little black spray paint and super glue you can create some fun & crawly halloween decor!
Follow my easy tutorial below to make a snake table runner for your halloween party, dinner, or table in no time!
Toy Rubber Snakes
Black Spray Paint
Step 1- Following the instructions on the can, spray paint your rubber snakes with black spray paint and allow them to dry. Don’t worry about the spray paint saying it won’t adhere to plastic, most regular spray paint sticks and dries fabulously! Ohhh, I just love the transition!
Step 2- Take some card stock or paper and tape together to make a table runner pattern (in the same size you want your table runner). This image below shows the pattern I followed to make a snake plate charger.
Step 3- Start laying out your snakes along the edge of your pattern. Overlap the snakes in areas so you can glue them together. Carefully glue the snakes together where they touch with superglue (you may want to wear rubber gloves since you will be using superglue throughout this project).
Step 4- Continue to fill in your pattern with the black rubber snakes, trying not to glue the snakes to the actual pattern/shape (you can pull the paper off if it ends up getting onto it, though, so don’t stress too much about it).
Step 5- Let the glue dry/set and viola, you have your runner! Be careful when you move the runner, because it can be fragile. Do not fold it.
Another creepy option is rubber bugs! Paint them black and incorporate them into the runner too, if you would like!
They definitely add to the creepy crawly effect!
Follow the same tutorial above to make rubber snake plate chargers! So fun!
And another option- Hot glue snakes to the bottom edge of a rug!
The possibilities are endless, really!…
And how cool is this idea?!….
