Little Lumberjack Party Details:This is what Cara McGrady said about planning/styling the party-

“Our little guy, Coleman, is affectionately referred to as Mo or MoBear by just about everyone in our family. His nickname, paired with the fact that he has a December birthday lead me to choose a Lumberjack theme for his second birthday. I stuck with the traditional red & black buffalo plaid as the main pattern and used bear & Coleman lantern silhouettes as motifs. Kraft paper and wood accents were also used throughout the décor. This was Coleman’s “golden” birthday, (he turned two on December 2nd), so I also incorporated a little bit of gold into the color scheme.

I created all of the printed items for the party using the kraft/plaid/wood scheme. I cut the letters of Coleman’s name from gold glitter cardstock & adhered them to a buffalo plaid paper that I designed. I used black festooning to add a little texture to the tops of each panel.

I whipped up a few decorative party signs with quotes about beards. After all, what’s a lumberjack without a beard? “A Beard is Really Just a Hug for Your Face” & “With a Great Beard Comes Great Responsibility” & “You’d Look Better with a Beard” We also had a DIY photo booth with costume beards & plaid trucker hats that our guests were able to wear for pictures.

One of the signs also featured a my favorite quote of my great-grandpa’s, “Chop your own wood & it will warm you twice.” Many of the elements of this party were inspired by my great-grandfather. I will always remember him wearing a buffalo plaid shirt with suspenders and he also owned a firewood business until he was in his 90’s. Incorporating a few details that reminded me of him was a great way to remember him that day.

The dessert table was decorated with flannel fabric– black & red plaid. We used artificial pine trees to create a height element on each end of the table. To raise the desserts up off of the table, I used tree slices that my husband cut from our backyard. They added a woodsy element & I really liked the way they turned out. I found a gorgeous pinecone garland in the Christmas section of TJ Maxx that was perfect for the front of the table. I also scattered a few pinecones around the bases of the trees & around the dessert plates.

On the dessert table, we had sugar cookies (decorated by the amazingly talented Samantha of Flour de Lis) that coordinated perfectly with the invitations. They were almost too cute to eat (almost!). I used gold wrapped candies (Rolos & miniature Hershey bars with almonds) to add a little gold to the table. I made cheesecake shooters topped with raspberries & tied a spoon on with jute twine for a rustic feel. I also made tiny mugs of “cocoa” with chocolate pudding and mini marshmallows. My favorite DIY dessert had to be the chocolate covered Oreos topped with edible icing mustaches. So simple & fun! To go along with the breakfast theme, we also had gummy “fried eggs” and wafer cookies that looked like teeny-tiny waffles. I used a simple chocolate cake, topped it with a miniature red lantern, wrapped it with pine garland and added a gold glitter die cut “2” to the front. Since our birthday boy wanted his very own cake, I also made a small smash cake to look like a furry bear just for him.

Our families came over for a “Rugged & Manly Birthday Celebration” and a “Hearty Lumberjack Brunch.” We served homemade waffles, sausage balls, donut skewers, fruit, home fries & scrambled eggs. We also had juice, coffee, hot tea & a hot cocoa bar. Our guests really enjoyed adding in little extras to their cups of cocoa–especially the extra large marshmallows. They were a huge hit! (We also offered Whipped Cream vodka as a “Spike if You’d Like” option for the adults.)

Many of our guests came over in their Lumberjack best– flannel shirts & blue jeans. The birthday boy carried around his pretend axe and showed off his little red suspenders to everyone. We loved celebrating our little man with such a fun & memorable celebration!”

This isn’t a Kara’s Party Ideas party, so your best bet is to reach out directly to the party stylist. Her name and link are in the first paragraph of the party post. XOXO!
