Rustic Barnyard Party Details:
This is what Kia (the birthday boy’s mother) about planning the party- “Having brought home Seve Alonso in Sta. Elena after he was born, Seve practically grew up in the countryside. Every morning, he loved watching the birds across our front porch and the sheep that would walk by the streets. On weekends, we would frequent the farm to ride the carabao, feed the rabbits and guinea pigs. This is why on planning for his first birthday, the venue was a no-brainer – his favorite place and a stone’s throw away from our home – The Fun Farm.
Our suppliers were also non-negotiables – La Belle Fete Weddings and Events (who also did our wedding in Sta. Elena back in 2012!) Passion Cooks Catering (who would cater for our small gatherings) Shutterpanda Photography (whose work definitely did not disappoint! The birthday shoot we did two weeks before the party were spot on with Seve playing with apples and crates!) and Make Believe Productions (who sold us over their unique ideas – storytelling of Little Peter Rabbit, among others! – which blended well with our theme)
La Belle Fete Weddings and Events suggested a Rustic Barnyard Bash theme, which went well with my advocacy for sustainability as decors were made of recycled wood (stumps from the fallen trees over the most recent typhoon), red apples, fresh flowers, plaid tablecloths and reusable barrels. Desserts such as carrot, calamansi and chocolate mini bundt cakes were lovingly made by me and my mom, with the four-layered birthday cake topped with animals, trees and a barnhouse.
Guests were also asked to come in their favorite plaid and denim outfit to go with the theme, while loot bags came in the form of candies wrapped in red paisley bandanas, tied to wooden sticks. A cow pinata closed the program with all the kids scrambling for the treats!
It was a fun-filled afternoon as guests were able to roam around the farm and enjoy the mini zip line, obstacle course, boating, horseback and carabao-cart riding, rope cross, fishing, pony petting and feeding of goats, rabbits and guinea pigs.
Happiness does come in the simplest of forms – for us it was being in touch with nature, while celebrating Seve’s first birthday with family and friends.”
