“My younger sister returned from an 18-month mission to the Philippines and as a surprise, I wanted to plan a welcome home party for her. Since she was returning home to Kansas, I thought it only fitting to make it a “There’s No Place Like Home” party.

Everything about this party was fun to style. Since I was focusing on “There’s no place like home,” I used a lot of red ruby slippers, hot air balloons, and yellow brick roads in the styling. Those are my favorite parts of the movie anyway, so it worked out perfectly. From the Dorothy candy kabobs from Sweets Indeed to darling hot air balloon cupcake toppers from 4Kids Cakes, I loved everything about it.

One of my favorite things about the party was incorporating the various scenes from the movie throughout the party table. From the black and white cookies to the Lollipics lollipop guild and the there’s no place like home cake from Mixing It Up, the dessert table brought the movie to life while still celebrating my sister’s favorite things. And the talented Donna from Swish Printables did a fantastic job creating printable designs to match each of the different scenes, including darling pink bubble good witch wands labels and even a green glittery please knock sign for the Emerald City.

As a bonus surprise, I put together a welcome home basket for my sister when she walked in the door including my version of ruby red slippers (red Toms), a book, and even a stuffed Toto. All of the guests were given Wizard of Oz inspired party hats made by HensonCreations as well as wands from Fancy & Fold for the lucky few like my sister, the good witch. It is so good to have my sister home, and I loved being able to celebrate her return and accomplishments in such a fun and magical way”.
