Cleopatra + Egyptian Party Details:
This is what Dolores said about the planning/styling the party- “My daughter Mia has always loved the style and glamour of Cleopatra. She also has always loved to dance, so the theme of an Egyptian Dance Party for her 6th birthday was an easy choice. But it wasn’t until I started looking for Egyptian themed party resources did the realization occur that there was very little selection. To create the look we wanted, we were going to have to design and make most the party elements from scratch.
Thus began what we called the “60 Days of Crafting”. My husband created a gorgeous invitation which we printed on vellum and rolled into a scroll with gold polymer clay finials we handcrafted. Every day Mia and I had an element to complete, we made poured molded deity crayons, cut circle banners, beaded necklaces, gold foiled vases, made white chocolate pyramid candy, stenciled muslin favor bags, dipped pretzel rods, pressed polymer charms, spray painted vases and rubber snakes gold etc. An artistic friend helped by painting hieroglyphics on trays and stones, and she created the amazing mural of the goddess Isis with Mia’s hieroglyph name in a cartouche.
The hand painted muslin favor bags contained:
~ original scarab tin from the British Museum filled with rock candy we blended with edible lavender
~ handmade Egyptian charm necklace
~ hand poured deity crayons
~ jeweled ring pop
~ turquoise/gold gumballs
~ hieroglyphic stones
For the food we wanted to keep with the Egyptian theme but still serve food kids enjoy so we did sandwich wraps, vegetable crudités, hummus, pita chips, carrot chips, cheese pyramid, dry sausage and a popcorn bar. We designed the gorgeous Egyptian deity cookies and cupcakes and had them made by an amazing local pastry designer.
We had a face painter who decked the girls out in Eyes of Horus and various Egyptian designs. My husband is a photographer so he created a small photobooth that the girls really enjoyed. It was a great party and the kids a wonderful time dancing, playing wrap the mummy and walking like an Egyptian for the afternoon”.
