Kara’s Kindness Project
Have you ever noticed how good you feel when you do something nice for someone? Ever pay for the order behind you in the drive-thru? Offer to push a stranger’s shopping cart back to the store because they have a couple of crying kids they are trying to wrangle into their car seats after a long shopping trip? Brighten your neighbors day by bringing their newspaper up to the porch from the bushes where it was hastily thrown by the paper boy in the wee hours of the morning?
Have you ever been the recipient of a random act of kindness? It can almost make you cry! The other day I forgot my credit card at home, but I didn’t discover this fact until I was at the check stand with my nicely bagged groceries. It had been a long day, and I was more than ready to get home and get dinner ready. As I explained to the store employee that I would have to go home and get my credit card, the person behind me handed his card to the employee and paid for my groceries before I could even say a word. I was beyond humbled and asked how to get in touch with the altruistic person to repay the debt.
I was only asked to pay it forward.
I happily found my opportunity to pay it forward, and in the process it got me thinking…why shouldn’t everyone be able to feel the joy of kindness? Let’s all pay it forward!
The Kindness Project
Here is the challenge: check out the link to the document down at the bottom of this post. Print out some of the cards (it works best on cardstock). Head out today and search for ways to pay it forward. If you have kids this is a perfect way to teach them to care for each other and learn an important moral lesson. Leave a card when you complete your random act of kindness and this project and good human kindness can go global!
Finally, please don’t forget to share your story! You can leave a comment here on this post or you can submit it through email at [email protected] (my friend Mandy has accepted the challenge of managing your stories for me!). I will continue to update this page with some of the stories of kindness as this project goes forward.
I can’t wait to hear of the wave of kindness as you go out and prove that there is still good in the world!
You can download and print out the cards to accompany your random acts of kindness. Don’t forget to share your story here!
