Kara's Party Ideas 4th of July Backyard Patio Barbeque | Kara's Party Ideas

Once the mercury starts rising, my lifestyle morphs into summer mode. The kids seem to live in swimming suits, their bodies bathed in sunlight and sunscreen. Melted Popsicle dots the concrete as the children perfect their chalk art. But, the biggest change is the fact that we eat al fresco every night.

By the time the heat of the afternoon dissipates our evening meal is begging to be enjoyed outside. Up until a few years ago, I had been using a pop-up shade, but then I decided that it was time for a backyard makeover. We spend so much time outside in the summer, I needed to make a beautiful space to truly enjoy. I am partnering with Lowe’s for this post because it was a natural choice due to the fact that they are my go-to for backyard improvements.

Now our backyard is the gathering place for the neighborhood mamas and kids. We enjoy the shade from the gazebo as the kids splash in the water. Because it is such a central place for all of our friends, we are hosting the neighborhood 4th of July BBQ this year. I thought I would share a few of the plans with you so it could be like you were all celebrating with us! Wouldn’t that be so much fun?!

4th of July Backyard Patio BBQ Details

There are so many wonderful things about the area in which we call home, but there is one drawback. Our soil is not the best. It is really hard to grow flowers directly in the ground. The best way I have found to remedy this is to just use perfectly blended soil in planter pots, just like these gorgeous rose blooms in this Resin Shell Planter.

The other benefit to using planters is the fact that you can get varying sizes, colors, and materials to create a visual interest. You can also move them around as needed to change up your landscape! Plus, I will let you in on a little secret, and the reason why I choose Lowe’s for my flowers and plants. They have a plant guide where you can type in your region and find what plants work best in your area, plus lots of other goodies. It’s like having a personal horticulturist to consult. And, if your trees, shrubs or perennials don’t survive a year, Lowe’s will replace them free of charge. Bonus!

The Sunjoy Gazebo was the perfect structure to keep the sun from roasting us and it is so pretty too!!

For the Independence Day party, a collection of reds, whites, and blues go perfectly with earthy elements like the jute chargers, round, ruffled burlap placemats, and earthy outdoor rug.

I love the allen + roth farmhouse Atworth table because it looks like a chic rustic wood table, but because it is aluminum it holds up perfectly to the sun, water, and other elements. It fits many of our friends around it comfortably, and when we have a kids party, we can pull up a bench and every friend in the neighborhood has a place to sit!

The decorative LED lanterns are a perfect touch as they add ambiance to the evening gatherings as twilight sets in.

The fun purchase we made recently was this striped patio umbrella. It provides the perfect amount of shade for my new hammock which is a favorite of my family and friends.

I added a few metal pieces to the table. Like the white 3-tiered metal stand to hold the strawberries, blueberries, and watermelon. Also, don’t miss the red soda bottles for a little retro feel. Don’t forget to take a look at the festive red and blue cushions and pillows. Lowe’s has a great selection of decor items…they are truly a home improvement store all around.

Roasting Marshmallows

Finally, the propane fire table is a new family favorite. Summer calls for roasted marshmallows! If you are like me and hate smelling like campfire, this is the perfect solution. Easy on and off, and oh-so-decorative.

See, I have a seat for you too. These chairs are so comfortable, and who can resist a swivel chair, no matter how old you are!

Backyard Grilling

Now that you’ve tried out the swivel chair, and hopefully had a turn in the hammock, I think the food is just about done. We love our Weber Genesis Grill. It has a smaller footprint, without sacrificing space for grilling. Now, what’s your pleasure? Veggie burger, grilled salmon, or are you kid at heart and prefer a hot dog? Don’t forget a grilled veggie kabob, they are my favorite!

Citronella candles are a must and these red ones go perfectly with our partyscape. I don’t know why the moquitos don’t wait for an invitation to a party, they just always show up uninvited. Thankfully, these candles keep them at bay.

Patriotic flags in my flower pots are details that don’t seem big, but they add so much to the look of the party!

This post has been sponsored by Lowe’s. All opinions are true and my very own.
