Here’s what Kathy said about planning the party– “This year for my daughters fifth birthday party, I decided to celebrate her love for animals and throw her a safari animal party. Everything was DIY. For the invitations I found a zebra and a giraffe card in Michael’s Store from National Geographic and I used that as inspiration for the colors and themed, I used the front of the card and made the invitations with burlap, also I used burlap to decorate the mason jars cups. The animals on the centerpieces logs are from Target and the small ones that I put in the party favor plastic bags are from Party City. My husband helped me to cut the logs for the centerpieces, the cake stand and the drink stand. The chocolate cake was made by my mom and also the table cloth for the dessert table, she made it with burlap. The happy birthday, explore, and safari signs are made with burlap and the letters are painted with a stencil. I sewed the giraffe and the zebra fabric bags and transferred the animals that I printed in my home printer, I printed the animals in a fabric transfer paper with a technique that I found on the Internet, very easy!! The binoculars are made with toilet paper rolls, very cheap, I just glued them together and painted them with a black spray paint and the final touch was the zebra duck tape. I found the safari hats at Amazon.com, also very cheap. My cousin Claudia from Guatemala made this beautiful animal masks, she is very talented, the kids loved them!! After everyone had their gear they were ready for an adventure. The kids headed off on a Safari Adventure looking for plastic animals that had been hidden around the woods. My friends Jaime and Eric Cho helped me to entertained the kids with fun games and activities, the kids were very excited!! National Geographic has a lot of activities for an animal or safari themed!! Elizabeth had a great time with her friends and family, also because her grandparents were here visiting from Guatemala!! Definitely she is going to remember her 5th Birthday Party!!”

This party is adorable!! It shows that it really is possible to not “break the bank” and still have a fantastic looking party. I love the DIY binoculars, what a great idea!!
I’d love to know where you found the animal stickers/cut outs on the drink glasses! I would love to use those for my daughter’s birthday. Thank you!
