Minion Ice Cream Party Details:
This is what Jhoanee said about planning/styling the party- “Last year was a dino party, this year I thought an ice cream party would be great especially in this warmer month. Although the day turned out to be rainy, it didn’t dampen the kids enthusiasm for ice cream. Loved seeing them enjoy the cold treat and putting their own toppings. While the kids enjoyed the usual chocolate, vanilla and cookies n cream flavours, the adults also loved the more adventurous ones like taro, caramelised fig, salted caramel, etc.
The birthday boy had been asking for a minion cake since last year and I’ve been wanting to do one too. It’s great to have my kids birthdays (and family birthdays) to trial out cake designs that I’ve been wanting to do. I thought I’d challenge myself to construct a standing cake and although overall, it turned out ok, it’s been a learning curve. Of course, the cake had to incorporate the them so I made it look like the Minion was enjoying an ice cream treat too.
I made ice cream cake pops (with MnMs inside the cones too!) as well as marshmallow in ganache-filled cones (looked like soft serve ice cream). I had all sorts of toppings so the kids would have a lot of variety to choose from. I also had a little section for a DIY sundae. I made cookies that looked like ice cream and made neapolitan macarons.
At the end of the day, I had put cake in ice cream tubs to take home, as well as ice cream. The kids also took away cute ice cream truck boxes. In them, I put ice cream cones and a selection of toppings so they can enjoy their own ice cream treat at home.”
