Pajama Time Party Details:
This is what Britni said about planning the party- “For my son’s 1st birthday, I wanted to do something that I knew he would love so I chose to plan a party themed after his favorite book, Pajama Time by Sandra Boynton. The main elements in the book are stars, animals, and various patterns of pajamas so I used those three elements throughout the party.
The party was from 5-7 PM so I put together both a dessert table as well as an actual food table to keep our guests fed. All of the food and desserts were chosen with young kids in mind and included lots of breakfast foods like breakfast burritos, pancake stacks, fruit stars, and strawberry smoothies. For dessert, we had a gorgeous cake made by Boutique Cake Shop to match my sons favorite page in the book, animal shaped cake pops from the talented Alexandria Cake Pop Company, pajama shaped cookies, chocolate covered pretzels and oreos, and various types of candy. In addition to the food, we also served water bottles and juices boxes for the kids covered with fun book inspired labels.
Both of the party tables were designed to match the book. The dessert table had a backdrop that I made to match the front of the book with pictures of my son, and the main food table was setup with a custom made headboard, Beanie Babies, and a pillow to make it look like a bed. Other decorations included blue, green, and confetti filled balloons for kids to take home with them. In addition to balloons, each family was also given a copy of the book and a “breakfast in bed” take home bag to fill with treats to take home from the party.
During the party, my husband read the book to the kids, and we had a one-shaped pull string piñata that the kids pulled to find all sorts of healthy treats and toys. And the birthday boy enjoyed treats including a matching smash cake”.
