Viking and Dragon Party Details:
This is what Anj said about planning/styling the party-
“My son turned 6 this year. Weve had a lot of family get togethers for his birthday. But I have not had a big party with his friends yet. So this year I decided to pull out all the stops and create something fun and magical for him.
I had a tough time deciding on a theme. Not that you really need one. But a theme helps me get the creative juices flowing. Sometimes creative boy parties can be tough. I was leaning toward a pirate party
I know its been done a million times. But you could do so many fun things with it. I was contemplating on a small ship for displaying goodies. And then it quickly morphed from pirate ship to viking ship (I guess they are still technically pirates). And then it went from a small ship to a giant ship they could eat at. And then I got all giddy and excited for a
VIKING & DRAGON party!
It also was perfectly timed for the new How To Train Your Dragon movie. Bonus.
The party included a large viking ship where the kids would eat dinner and later in the party cake and ice cream. We had Viking games so the party participants could earn their viking sword, helmet & shield. We had an epic dragon battle as we fought a fierce dragon. (A dragon piñata). Then the little vikings were trained on how to take care of a dragon. They received their dragon permits and their own baby dragon.
I was a little concerned about how boys would respond to the whole adoption thing. I wasnt sure theyd take to the dragon stuffed animals like the girls had from both the owls and the bunnies from my other parties. But after the party I started getting loads of feedback from parents. One little boy had to take his dragon out to dinner with him that night. He asked the waitress to bring his dragon its own glass of water. Other boys slept with their dragons. Two brothers made their beds the next day with their dragons set up with their pillows and their viking hat shield and sword laid out nicely at the end of their beds. And a little girl declared it was the best party she had been to. I also have witnessed a lot of little vikings running around the neighborhood. Its hilarious.
Honestly
Ive had a lot of fun parties for my kids. But this one, it was something extra special. What fun”!

How did you make the Viking ship? Or did you order it?
Same question. Where did you get the ship or how did you make it?
What a fun party! Yes, I would like to know the same thing about the viking ship. My daughter is having a birthday in 3 weeks and I would love to have the ship for her party. Thanks!
Would love to know also how you made the ship or whether you ordered it somewhere?
Did you make the dragons? If so, do you have a pattern, they are amazing! Also, the shields, are they pizza pans?
Thanks!

Hi
My almost 8 year old is having a How to Train your Dragon birthday party (he’s pretty much changed his name to Hiccup!). I’d love to know where you got the ship stern from? Did you make it? You’ve done such a wonderful job – very talented indeed.
Thank you,
Ashleigh
Hello! Awesome idea! Did you buy the ship and chair sheilds or make it? Would ove this for an upcoming party!
How did you make the viking ship standee and viking shields
How did you make the viking ship standee and viking shields?
What did you use for the shields? Where did you purchase the dragons?
Hi, could I purchase the template for the ships standee?
Thank you
I found a blogpost from the hostess of this party. Lots of good info and she has most of the party supplies available in her Etsy shop.
My grandson is fixing to turn 3, and he wanting a dragon party. I love the shields and was wondering how they were made. Also, where did you find the wooden silverware (wooden ware) :)
Thank You
Vicki
I am a teacher and every year I do a unit on a country of the world this year Norway. I was wondering where you got the dragon piece for the ship front at the table or how it was constructed. Thanks so much for your help!
What fun! This isn’t a Kara’s Party Ideas party, so your best bet is to reach out directly to the party stylist. Her name and link is in the first paragraph of the party post. XOXO!
