Parisian Inspired Little Man Party Details:
This is what Katherine said about planning the party- “For her baby shower last summer, mom went with a travel theme All the Places Hell Go, based on the famous Dr. Seuss book. For babys first birthday, she decided that she wanted to continue with a travel theme and thought Paris would be a beautiful city for the event. She is also in love with the moustache trend, so the idea was
born: Little Men Wear Berets and Bow Ties! Wed never seen a Parisian themed party for a little boy, so we were really excited to work on this event.
We kept with the classic black and white pinstripe that has become characteristic of a Parisian theme, adding in shades of blue, as well as, and then more stripes, solids, and polka dots. The décor elements consisted of the berets, moustaches, bow ties, pinwheels, and Eiffel Towers, of course! To welcome the guests, we had a chalked Eiffel Tower and a welcome banner on an easel with blue milk glasses and white magnolia flowers; in French, the banner says Welcome my
We added jumbo balloons to accentuate the hand-cut backdrop for the main food table outside. We also included hammered silver vases and beige milk jugs to keep the party décor a little more on the
masculine side. The dessert table banner was made by Simply Bashing and food signs were made by BellaGrey Designs. Id happened across a chalkboard moustache at Joann Fabric & Crafts and it couldnt have been more perfect for the party! The guests were able to write birthday wishes for the baby and it was displayed in his room as a keepsake.
FOOD & DESSERTS:
There was no question that we would serve French food, so we decided to go with a Build Your Own Croissant or Bagel station. The menu started with bagels, croissants, and French bread and gave the guests the option of several different meat selections, a veggie platter, a fresh fruit platter and seafood salad. The bagels were served in mini chrome market baskets. For the kiddos with pickier palettes, we had chicken fingers and sandwich rolls. To help keep things organized, the utensils were bundled together in quatrefoil print napkins, which were folded and banded to look like jumbo bow ties; they were placed on a rolling cart and it was very easy for the guests to get everything and go!
For liquid refreshments, we had a full beverage station with sweet tea, Beret Blue Punch, bottled water, and a Build Your Own Mimosa component. Instead of the traditional juices and champagne concoction, I found Welchs Sparkling Juices in the flavors of Mango Passion Fruit, Cherry Limeade, and Raspberry Limeade and they were perfect for a non-alcoholic beverage option at a kids party! For the guests who didnt want to use champagne glasses, Always the Occasion designed
custom mason jars to match the party, which had Eiffel Towers and moustaches on them. The water bottles had the three main elements of the party on coordinating striped bands.
The dessert table was full of sweets and French influence! On the bottom tier, we enjoyed mini chocolate Eiffel Towers, mini donuts, chocolate bowties, decorated sugar cookies, and donut holes. The top tier boasted the cupcakes in the Eiffel Tower holder and mini cupcakes, in vanilla and strawberry flavors and served in baking cups from The Pretty Party Shoppe. The smash cake was a simple vanilla cake topped with one of the moustache sugar cookies. This party was definitely a case of have your cake and wear it too, as the little man thought the icing was lotion and proceeded to rub it all over his feet and legs, taking special care to rub it in between his toes!
The party outfit was a custom romper from Confetti Couture Events. Matching bowties for dad and his mini were made by Tutus and Bowties Events. Just like a movie star, the guest of honor had a few wardrobe changes and rocked several different bowtie outfits. All of the guests got into the theme with little ones showing up in their finest bow ties and with the adults sporting berets, French attire, and bows in their hair. Since there were way more adults at the bash than kids, the photo booth was a big hit! The abundance of props allowed for lots of mixing and matching and laughter.
THANK YOU FAVORS:
Mom had a wonderfully thoughtful and eco-friendly idea for what she wanted to give her guests to thank them for celebrating with her family. We presented the guests with lavender sachets, which were made by stamping them with Eiffel Towers or Paris and a fleur de lis. They were then filled with lavender and sewn shut. They served a dual purpose: they could be used in the dryer in the place of dryer sheets or they could be put into the pajama drawer so that the relaxing scent would be on the night clothes. The favor table was highlighted by a Parisian poster and paper fans, with letters spelling out Merci to express our gratitude for the guests”.
