Glam Instagram Party Details:
This is what Amber said about planning/styling the party- “Ever since my almost teenager discovered Instagram she was obsessed, so when it came time to decide on a theme for her 13th birthday party it was a no-brainer. It HAD to be an Instagram party!
For the décor, I wanted to incorporate the rainbow colors on the Instagram logo but also wanted it to be a bit glamorous and girly so I added gold, glitter, and pink as well. From sequin tablecloths and gold glitter confetti to sparkling cider and goldware, I added elements of glitz and glam wherever I could. I set the glamorous tone for the party by personalizing the envelopes for the invites with gold letter stickers. The invites themselves were cleverly made to look like an Instagram post but contained all of the details for the party. Some of my favorite décor elements from the party were the DIY polaroid banners I made using photos from my daughters Instagram profile. I found the tutorial for how to make them from The Thinking Closet and I LOVED how they turned out!
When my daughters friends arrived at the party, they were each given notebooks and pens and then sat down for a 15 minute crash-course powerpoint presentation all about Instagram and smart phone photography, including cheats, tips, and tricks. After that, the girls had a photo session where they tried out the photobooth props and some of the selfie and Instagram tricks they learned. I made a simple photobooth backdrop using cardstock in a rainbow of colors which I cut into circles and secured to the wall. It was topped off with an assortment of paper lanterns in various colors and sizes. The photobooth props included a DIY Instagram photo cut-out; oversized glasses; large gold 13 balloons; hats; mustaches, lips, & glasses on sticks; and a lighted metal #hashtag.
Following the photo session, the girls ate dinner which included paninis and hot chocolate made to look like the Instagram logo (I used sour candy strips and chocolate Reisen candies for the view finder and rainbow). There was also pasta salad and chips to eat, as well as sparkling cider to drink.
For the main party activity, I wanted to come up with something fun and unique the girls could do at the party that would still tie into Instagram. I decided to combine the photo / Instagram theme with a mall scavenger hunt. What could be more perfect than teens going to the mall taking selfies? The girls were divided into teams and given #photogenic t-shirts to wear in their team colors. In keeping with the glamorous elements of the evening, the girls were taken to and from the mall in a stretched limousine.
After the scavenger hunt, the girls returned to our house to watch an Eventsta.gram slideshow of the party & hunt photos they had posted on Instagram throughout the night. Prizes were awarded to the teams and the girls ate desserts including cake, red velvet #hashtag whoopie pies, pink comment sugar cookies, camera lens brownies, and dont be jelly shots.
Before the girls went home, they filled paper bags (made to look like the Instagram logo using a free printable from No Biggie) with candy in rainbow colors including gum, skittles, jelly beans, and fruit slices. There were also wax lips, mustache whistles, duck lips whistles, silver camera charms, and comment / emoji note pads for them to choose from.”
