Pink + Gold Party Details:
This is what Katrina said about planning/styling the party- “From the moment our twin girls were born I racked my brain for the perfect theme for their First Birthday party. As their unique personalities developed, I knew the theme had to be Sugar & Spice; simply because they are a perfect blend of each. Although they are little, my girls are proving to be very glamorous; therefore, the look of the party had to match. The pink and gold color palate was both elegant and striking; especially with the addition of glitter. I took great joy in making the girls birthday hats, twin trivia and glitter-favor bags; however, the piéce de résistance of the party had to be the paper flower backdrop. It was an absolute labor of love. Lets just say the first flower I made was less than flattering, but I persevered and ultimately made over twenty flowers. I spray painted each flower in various shades of pink, gold and glitter. Spray painting gave me artistic license over each flower; some looked organic, while others looked imagined. The flower décor continued in the beautiful arrangements created by Christine of Designs by Christine, as well as the rosette tablecloths. With a theme like Sugar and Spice, the desserts have to be scrumptious! Roobinas Cake created delicious sweets for the dessert table; the color palate and flowers were seamlessly incorporated into each one of her creations. To drive the sugar element home, Sweet Treats made delicious cotton candy out of their fabulous pink cart. Custom pencils engraved with Sugar & Spice & Twins Are Twice As Nice, helped guests play Twin Trivia; testing their knowledge about the girls and twins in general.
The spice element was taken care of by chef Boness of Vella Pizza. He created artisan, Neapolitan style pizzas in his mobile, wood-burning pizza oven. Guests of all ages were able to construct their own gourmet pizzas; it was a feast for both the eyes and the mouth. We combined the girls first birthday with a very important Armenian Tradition called Atam Hatik. Atam Hatik is a unique custom, because the focus of the celebration is on the arrival of the babys first tooth. Similar to the Korean Dol, the baby chooses from an array of items and it is believed the item the baby selects will foretell her future. As the girls selected an item from the tray, their grandmothers held a piece of tulle over their head; meanwhile, I sprinkled Hatik (a dish comprised of wheat, barley and sugared almonds) over the tulle. The act symbolizes a prosperous and sweet life for the baby. The birthday party was a celebration of our girls and our love for them. I couldn’t be happier about the way everything turned out.”
