Paddington Bear Party Details:
This is what Sheila said about planning the party- “I came across babyGap’s vintage Paddington Bear clothing line and fell head over heels in love. I went right out and bought a darling screen-printed tee for my daughter with Paddington’s recipe for Marmalade Sandwiches on the front and an original sketch of the well-traveled bear on the back. That shirt prompted me to buy the classic children’s book and the book prompted me to, well, plan a party. It always comes back to that around our house!
All good parties start with an inspired invitation, so I set out to design a train-ticket to lead the guests to Paddington Station. Influenced by vintage ticket stubs, the month and date of the party were indicated by hole-punching the bottom of the invitation.
The British classic- fish ‘n chips- was on the menu, as well as lots of sweets and my own little spin on orange marmalade. I designed labels to fit on standard-size mason jars that read “Paddington’s Secret Recipe” and was pleased with how well they turned out. Equally as easy, and creating just as much of an impact, were the Teddy Graham favors. A cellophane bag, a custom topper and a stapler quickly transformed something ordinary into extraordinary. Each child was implored to “Look After These Bears,” as they left the party and made their way onto their next adventure.
I was surprised by how much the simple pennant and suitcase banner tied the theme together but, if I had to choose a favorite element of the party decor, it would have to be the large “Welcome” sign that overlooked the food table. Behind the printed greeting is a faint outline of a compass- a subtle nod to Paddington’s world-traveling ways- and the simple navy and white polka-dotted pattern couldn’t have made the party feel any more crisp and clean.
I designed all of the printables myself and they are available for purchase at my Etsy shop.
I also included more planning information, as well as tutorials on assembling some of the party printables, over at my blog, in hopes that they’ll help or inspire other Paddington party-planners.
…but that doesn’t mean that I could have pulled this whole thing off single-handedly! My cousin, an incredibly talented artist, baker and owner of Fondant and Frosting, created the custom Paddington Bear cupcake toppers.
All of the details of the special day were expertly captured and curated by Jaelynn of JRose Photography“.
