I’m excited to share the “SEW CUTE” SEWING THEMED 10TH BIRTHDAY PARTY I styled last week with you today! I hope you love this party as much as I did. It was such a fun party theme… perfect for any little girl, or older girl for that matter!
This crafting + sewing party is sponsored in part by Michaels. Michaels was THE perfect source for planning and decorating for this celebration! From yarn, to jars, to birthday party straws, Michaels has you covered!
Some of my favorite elements and party ideas from this sewing + crafting themed birthday celebration are:
- The painted scissor banner + chair banners
- The DIY pin cushion treat + favor jars
- The thread and gumball birthday girl necklace
- The DIY jumbo yarn spools
- The adorable sewing themed cake
- The sweet pin cushion, thread and yarn ball cake pops
- The sewing + crafting themed cupcake toppers
- The DIY button plates
- The button ‘crustables’ sandwiches
- AND MORE!

Yarn, buttons, styrofoam wreath form, wooden circles (for jumbo thread spools), small mason jars, pin cushion supplies, ribbon, plastic canvas mats, plastic canvas coasters, measuring tape, baskets, silk flowers, small wooden spools, mini pink sewing kits, wooden letters, mini sewing figurines, milk bottles- Michaels
Child Singer sewing machines- Walmart
Without further adieu, here’s Ella’s sewing themed birthday party!
I wanted to make some jumbo spools to use as decor and cupcake stands. While walking around Michaels I came upon these wooden circles, and after a little brainstorming, thought of the perfect way—simply hot glue wooden circles to the top and bottom of empty cardboard food cans (we used hot coca & protein powder cans), then wrap the cans with yarn!
These cake pops from Macabee’s Sweets (they ship right to your front door) were absolutely adorable and SO delicious!

We painted sheets of plastic canvas (from Michaels), then created a ‘stitched’ look around the edges with a needle and yarn. The child’s initial was also easily woven onto each corner.
Sewing party invitation from Cherry Berry Design

I wanted to create a unique sewing themed party banner to hang on the wall or chairs and am so happy with how these scissor garlands turned out! Simply spray paint children’s scissors in the colors of choice, then tie the scissors onto sewing measuring tape with ribbon!
Sewing measuring tape was also used to adorn these adorable mini glass jars.

Styrofoam balls were wrapped in yarn and placed in parfait / sundae dishes. A cute red button was glued on top to resemble a cherry.

You know me and spray paint…the possibilities are endless!
A broken sewing machine + spray paint = the cutest party decor / element!
The birthday girls mama found THE cutest vintage singer sewing table and vamped it up with paint and glaze! We used the sewing table to display party elements and drinks!
I’m in love with these mini button cookies I ordered from Etsy Shop- Paradise Sweets!

Light pink sixlets were inserted into the top of ‘crustables’ sandwiches to resemble button cookies!
The girls at the party LOVED the sewing lesson / class taught by Ella’s grandmother!
Sweet Ella and her beautiful mama, Shannon.
I added small white paper circles to the middle of colorful paper plates to make the plates look like buttons.
We made pin cushion jars with small mason jars, hot glue, batting, a small round piece of fabric, and pins! I LOVE how the shimmery gumballs inside the jars look just like pin heads!
These miniature sewing figurines were found at Michaels! They were perfect dessert toppers!
I LOVE this sewing themed birthday necklace we made out of ribbon, small thread spools and gumballs!
The silk flower centerpieces were adorable and tied everything together.
These cupcake / cookie toppers by Parkers Flour Patch were absolutely darling!!
Honeycomb cereal as “buttons”…
I used a wooden thread organizer to display the sewing themed cake pops. I simply removed some of the dowels with pliers and inserted the cake pops in their place!
Jen / Sweeten Your Day is uber talented! The amazing sewing cake was the highlight of the whole party!

All the girls and their sewing project- an adorable pillowcase!
