Peter Rabbit Themed 1st Birthday Party Details:This is what Skye said about planning/designing and styling the party-
“Asher was merely two months old when I decided I wanted a timeless theme for her 1st birthday. I chose Peter Rabbit after she received several Peter Rabbit items for her first Christmas. As Ashers little personally emerged over the course of the year, it was clear the mischievous Peter Rabbit suited her perfectly! Ever since she could crawl, she has loved being outside & is happiest outdoors. An outdoors event, with Mr McGregors garden theming, suited her perfectly!
Highlights of the day:
Sharing this momentous occasion with both old & new friends that weve had the pleasure in meeting through Ashers various activities throughout her first year; & seeing Asher enjoy the day Id created just for her! It was worth all the planning effort just to see her playing with her little friends & to see her feel so loved by everyone in attendance.
On the day of the party, despite sweltering 40 Celsius (104 °F) heat, everything was perfect! Some desserts couldnt handle the heat – with cake-pops shaped as carrots & radishes displaying pole-dancing skills as they slid down sticks; nevertheless we had a good laugh!
Tips I would offer on organising a childrens birthday party:
- Start planning early & use Pinterest for inspiration, but challenge yourself to include original ideas.
- Hire a professional photographer – yes its a reasonable expense, but you cant put a price on photographic memories, & you dont want the added responsibility of playing photographer.
Decorations:
Timber vertical louvre garden screens were sandwiched between two rustic wooden trestle tables, providing a backdrop for each table.
Handmade decorations included:
Polystyrene A covered in handmade paper flowers & ladybirds. Asher loved this & would get excited whenever she spotted this in the lead up to the party!
The garden to house cake-pops painted polystyrene finished with die-cut picket fencing & wooden ladybirds.
Beautiful floral elements including peonies, lavender, rosemary in shades of lavender, pink & yellow set among plush Peter Rabbits & Jemima Puddle Duck, along with glazed porcelain rabbits & birds Id collected in post-Easter sales.
Instagram display with photos from Ashers first year strung in a wooden frame.
Personalised All About Me chalkboard sign to commemorate the milestone.
Circular tags to tie to glassware; name tags for personalised lunchboxes & lolly bags; & food labels all with Beatrix Potter characters.
Highchair 1 skirting, lovingly made by her Nanna.
Themed menu items included:
Carrot, radish & cabbage cake-pop garden, complete with picket fence & meandering ladybirds.
Flower patch cupcakes, displayed in picket fence wrappers.
Corn cob cupcakes, complete with cob handles.
Strawberry cupcakes, displayed in berry boxes.
Mini terracotta pots housing chocolate cupcakes with real flowers & mint springs to resemble first growth.
Cheeky bunny bottom cake push-pops.
All food was given a name for example: Squirrel Nutkins caramel tart with maple macadamia, Hunca Muncas cheese board, and Peters Mothers salted caramel cheesecake pots
Each child received a personalised picnic box, filled with rabbit shaped sandwiches & other healthy treats.
Drinks included Squirrel Nutkins toasty nougat iced tea.
Cake:
A naked cake topped with edible florals & custom perspex Asher cake topper from Communicake It.
Party favors:
Carrot bubble wands strands of green raffia tied to orange bubble wands to resemble carrots.
Personalised carrot lolly bags.
Party entertainment:
A ball pit kept the toddlers entertained, whilst a vintage wheelbarrow filled with ice & drinks became the crowd favourite as youngsters cooled down by playing with ice.
Invitations:
I wanted the invitations to set the theme, so I ordered beautiful vintage Peter Rabbit invitations, wrapped in a doily wrap died green to resemble a lettuce leaf, & finished with hand cut & died carrot tags from Etsy Shop Anista Designs based in Toronto, Canada & had them shipped to Australia.”

Did you make the various food labels yourself? If so, how did you do it? I would love to do this for my daughter’s birthday.
Thank you
Hi Adele! As this isn’t a Kara-styled party, you would have to look for that information under the Vendors section of the party. I believe it has a link to the Graphic Design artist–Matrix Graphic Design
XOXO!
Thank you for the reply. I couldn’t get the link to work :(. I appreciate the help though.
Oh man!
