Are you in the Halloween costume planning and prepping mode? I just love Halloween, and always get so excited about finding the perfect costume for my children!
This month, Michaels asked me to created a DIY Halloween costume. I took on the challenge and created a SHOOTING STAR COSTUME that I think any little girl would adore. After all, who wouldn’t want to dress up in glitter and gold from head to toe? Sophia (my adorable little model) looks like a bright shining fairy princess, don’t you think?!

Easy DIY Halloween Costumes Tutorial: Little Girl Shooting Star Costume
Items needed (all available from Michaels):
Elastic Headband
Foam Star Pack (used for headband)
Christmas Tree Garnish (used for headpiece)
Ribbon, Ribbon & more Ribbon (in shiny colors)
Gold Glitter Tulle
White Glitter Tulle
Wire Star Tinsel
Leotard
Using ribbon and wire star tinsel, I created a fun and sparkly boutonniere that I attached to the shirt with a safety pin.
The skirt was easily made with tulle and elastic. Simply fold the long tulle piece over the elastic and secure with hot glue. I tied the skirt on at the back. (I had her wear a gold leotard under the skirt.)
I turned a bottle of shimmering glitter into a “stardust” necklace to accent the costume by simply hot gluing some ribbon onto the lid.
The shooting star wand was made with a christmas tree garnish ornament and ribbon. So easy!
The arm bands were made by cutting off the legs from a gold pair of leggings. Ribbon, in all shapes and sizes, was then hot glued onto the arm bands in a row.
She literally looked like a real shooting star!
