Nintendo Inspired Party Details:
This is what Amber said about designing/styling the party- “My son, Jackson, has loved video games since he was little. He especially loves all things Nintendo, with Kirby and Mario being two of his favorite characters. With the growing trend of game trucks, I thought it would be perfect for Jackson to have something like that for his 7th birthday party. Since there are no game trucks in our area, I tried to create something similar in our house.
We rounded up several Nintendo 3DS systems and a few copies of Mario Kart so that Jackson and his friends could participate in a tournament. My husband made up a tournament bracket and rounded the kids up a few at a time to compete. For the kids who were waiting their turn for the tournament, we had a lively game of Nintendo inspired Bingo going on in our dining room (using “gold” coins for chips of course). The Super Mario Bros Super Show was also playing on the TV for the guests who wanted a little less action.
We served Jackson’s guests Nintendo inspired snacks to keep their energy up throughout the party, including Sonic “spikes” (Bugles), Princess Peach gummy rings, Mario “turtle shells” (pistachios), Diddy Kong dried bananas, Doodle Jump gummy sour straws, Pac Man cherries (cherry cream pie in ice cream cones), Skylanders Pop Fizz popcorn, and Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze punch (7up, pineapple juice, and blue Hawaiian Punch).
After the tournament winner was determined and prizes were awarded, each kid filled up a game pixel favor box with an assortment of Nintendo inspired party favors. The favors included pink Kirby gumballs, Skylanders Airheads, game controller shaped erasers, Tetris plastic puzzle cubes, Luigi’s Gummi Pizzas, Cut the Rope lollipops, and Nintendo-themed pinback buttons.
Win or lose, everyone had a fun afternoon filled with snacking and gaming and Jackson was able to celebrate his 1-UP to level 7 doing what he loves best!”
