Popcorn & Pajamas Purple Movie Night
This is what Jennifer shared about planning the party- “This Pajamas & Popcorn theme was such a fun idea for a 4-year old birthday party, with lots of “sleepover” party elements tweaked for younger kids who aren’t quite ready for an overnight party. My daughter’s friends loved coming over in their jammies for an evening movie-watching party. Instead of traditional gifts, we asked guests to bring their favorite bedtime story to add to our birthday girl’s collection.
Our theme included lots of nighttime elements, with paper goods featuring a purple watercolor nighttime sky and a silver moon and stars motif). We sewed together 30 pillowcases (dyed varying shades of purple) to create a huge purple ombré pillow quilt for everyone to lounge on (which was also the site to one epic pillow fight before the movie began!). I dyed white discount fabric a soft purple to create a “movie theater curtain” around our tv, and we lit up the room with as many twinkling lights as we could find to create a magical, nighttime atmosphere.
The food was inspired by movie theater concessions, with hot dogs, sparkling purple punch and a popcorn bar featuring just about every mix-in imaginable. Once they grabbed their food trays, our little guests snuggled up with their teddy bear favors and we started the show! We chose Daniel Tiger’s “Special At Night” episode, which was the perfect length for little attention spans, and fit perfectly with our nighttime theme.
Once the show ended, the kids enjoyed playing together outside with their flashlight party favors before it was time to head home and get ready for bed. It was such a fun evening for everyone, and the perfect way to celebrate our big girl’s 4th birthday!”
