MODERN GLAM SEPHORA PARTY DETAILS:

Natalie shared the following about this glamorous event- “This was a fantastic event to work on. This year Kendo was the host for the Sephora Star Council event, an annual celebration of the top North American store managers. Kendo represents the best of the best – Kat Von D, Marc Jacobs Beauty, Bite Labs, Ole Henriksen and Formula X.
This meant creating the ‘Sephora’ experience, the classic black & white glam incorporating the ‘gem quality’, ‘stars’ and brilliance of the Star Council; in addition to a room for each brand. My intention was for guests to move from room to room and each sense would give them the full brand experience. From the visuals to sound, taste and smell.
This involved close collaboration with the talented Susan (of Bloomin Couture), Kim (of Small Moments Design) and Stephanie (of Melons Catering). We had to be closely in tune and coordinate to create the look and feel of each brand.
I’m so pleased that Kendo opened up their offices to us, providing us all we needed to capture their brands. They loved our rooms and understanding of their brand aesthetics, I hope you enjoy the journey through the rooms.
Brand & Color:
In order to truly capture each brand each element had to come together and create a specific look and feel.
Kat Von D – Artistry, precision of the tools of her trade, red roses and her beautiful tattoos.
Ole Henriksen – Happiness, moisture, citrus, orange…what goes into your body is the key to your beauty.
Bite Labs – Natural ingredients, a product so natural that could be created from the kitchen. In NYC
they make the lipstick in store in front of you.
Marc Jacobs – Classic modern, fresh, elegant, white florals and black lacquer.
Formula X – Empowerment, the littlest things like your nails can empower you and make you feel
beautiful and strong.
Here are some of the details I used to create the feeling of the brand as you walked into the room:
-Video & music in each room, Ole just makes you happy when I talks!
-Florals, fruit and natural ingredients – things used in the products themselves, textures, tastes that embody the brand.
-Food – for example, black caviar and an art palette presentation for Kat Von D, gazpacho shots with florals for Bite and color blocked desserts & florals in white trays and vases for Formula X.
-Colors – Orange for Ole, Red for Kat Von D and Black & White for Marc Jacobs Beauty.
-Flowers that represent the brand, red roses for Kat Von D, white florals for Marc Jacobs beauty and color blocked flowers that matched nail polish shades for Formula X.
-Display textures that represent the brand, from the natural woods for Ole to crisp metallic and glass in Bite.
-Vessels and unique displays like scales and lab equipment to represent the process undertaken to create the product.
-Vase selection that represents brand packaging, the Kat Von D vases were the same as her lipstick cases;
-Product displays, including inserting products into the florals like the Kat Von D rose wall.
In order to represent Sephora’s role in each room, I used the gorgeous large windows that overlook San Francisco as my palette. Using striped black & white decals and Sephora specific hashtag decals in the same way in each room. Each room also had a welcome that incorporated the geometric star graphic created by Kim with unique brand coloring and black & white balloons and tassels. The runners by La Tavola linens were the perfect final touch and were used in each event space.
The bar was Sephora all the way, arriving via red carpet, champagne in hand to glam sequin table covers, black and white cocktail stirrers, custom cocktails, napkins and geometric bling.
Some of my favorite elements were:
-The Truth or Dare cards created by Kim of Small Moments Design, the guests loved these and they provided a fantastic ice breaker.
-The black and white striped decals, linens, plates and balloons that gave each room a cohesive feel.
-The hashtag decals from Abby at Art Studio 54, these kept the buzz going through the event, encouraging guests to hashtag the fun.
-The napkins that bought the hashtag into every guests hand, Beau-Coup and Swoozie’s never fail, providing napkins with both last year’s hashtag and incorporating the new ‘KendolovesSephora’ detail.
-A unique cocktail for both Kendo & Sephora, each representing their aesthetic.
-The red carpet entry lined with Sephora & Kendo bags, we love to make the Star council special.
-The use of fruit and other natural plants, woods throughout displays, in each case these represent ingredients in the products themselves.
-The stories behind each room – for example, the story of velvet noir by Marc Jacobs beauty is one of his mother using velvet to create a lush lash. This inspired the black lacquer spools with velvet. In this case the velvet colors I selected tied into the new air blush product palette.
-Entryway florals inside giant Sephora bags and geometric bling accents.
-The red rose wall for Kat Von D, I can’t tell you how long I’ve waited to be able to do a rose wall!
I am so pleased that Tami was able to join us and take such stunning images. I hope you enjoy them!”
