Modern Tropical “Cheers to Sixty” Birthday Party
Modern Tropical “Cheers to Sixty” Birthday Party Details:
This is what Niki shared about the party- “A few weeks ago I traveled to Naples, Florida where my husband’s family has a condo and we surprised my Dad with a 60th Birthday Party in the event room of the Naples Continental Club. A month earlier than his actual birthday, he thought he was going to Florida for a family vacation to see his grandkids. Much to his surprise, my mom had enlisted my services to surprise my Dad with a party. My parents have been together since the 7th grade
I come from a large Italian family so it was only fitting to incorporate some Italian into the party. We themed this event ‘Saluti a Sixy’, Meaning Cheers or greetings to Sixty.
Masculine Tropical Decor
Being that the events room at our Condo, The Naples Continental Club was right on the water, I knew that I had to keep the décor tropical, yet masculine. I decided on on a green and sand color palette with accents of black and gold.
Ashley Agee designed the invitation suite using a tropical foliage print and custom watercolor geo that was used on the envelope liner and invitation sleeve.
That artwork was also used to create custom printed fabric yardage from spoonflower which was then cut and sewn to create a runner for the bar, placemats and foliage printed napkins. We also created a cozy, which is like a fitted sheet essentially to cover the tv that was hanging in between the bookshelves at the bar.
Attached to the cozy we placed a laser cut wood sign that read ‘Saluti a Sixy’ and floralized the tv.
Kaleidoscope floralized the bar and suspended floral rounds above each table…. Protea, ranunculas, baby coconuts, various palm leaves…..
Custom stir sticks at our DIY bar station that read saluti a sixty and 1956, the year my Dad was born.
My dad’s favorite dessert is tiramasu. It is an amazing dessert, but doesn’t often photograph well. I asked Lexie, of Sweetified to create a naked green tiramisu cake and gave her full creative freedom. This 3 tiered beauty consisted of an ombred bottom and top tier naked green tiramisu cake with a middle gold textured fondant. Adorned along the sides and dancing off the top tier were gold sugar palm leaves.
It’s In the Details
I also created a kids tablescape that complimented the adult tables. Tropical foliage plates and yellow accented napkins were the base of their table. I added black and white geometric washi tape to the wooden cutlery and printed miniature pineapple drink sleeves for the cups. Each place setting was complete with hand lettered hanging name tags and goodie bags. I filled the goodie bags with bubbles, stickers, bracelets for the girls, and ping pong paddle for our only boy and crayons and a mini pad of paper.
Lastly, We suspended a diamond honeycomb from the ceiling so the kids also had some suspended decor.”
