Colorful Mermaid Birthday Party
Colorful Mermaid Party Details:
This is what Heidi said about planning/styling the party- “We chose a mermaid theme this year for Eva’s party after I stumbled across Sparrow and B’s instagram page.
I saw the handmade mermaid costumes, fell in love and from there stemmed all of the ideas!
My girls’ are lucky to have a very talented aunty who has her own stationery and invitation business (Daydream Prints). I gave Krystie a quick brief of what I wanted and she managed to create exactly what I had pictured in my head.
After seeing some of Jo’s work (Pretty Little Cookie Co.) a year ago, I knew I had to have her create some of her magic for me. I gave Jo a list of sea creatures and bunch of inspiration photos and let her have free creative range from there. The cookie cake toppers added a special touch and they tasted just as divine as they looked!
Sweets, Treats, and Balloons
Rachel from Les Soeurs Macarons created the pink and blue macaron oysters to fit in with the colour scheme.
The cake was made by a friend of a friend and was a super tall vanilla butter cream cake with rainbow paddle pop coloured icing.
I had seen so many beautiful balloon garlands being created for birthday parties and wanted to give it a go. It was a challenge! The balloon wall feature was created with the help of my husband. I chose a mixture of pinks, blues and greens to keep it vibrant but still within the under the sea/mermaid theme.
Through the year I found inspiration from homeware stores such as Pottery Barn and West Elm. I found coral christmas tree decorations that I knew would work for the table, as well as glitter sprayed starfish from a local Hamptons style store. The giant clam wine cooler also came in handy and we used a sequinned table runner and old silver bauble for effect as a pearl.
My daughters and I also collected shells from our favourite beach each time we visited.”
