“It’s Time to Flamingle” Mother’s Day Party
Its Time to Flamingle Mothers Day Party Details:
This is what Toni said about the party- Flamingos are have been hitting the party scene for a while now and I have definitely joined the flamingo bandwagon. I have been wanting to plan a fun party around this colorful, vibrant bird, I thought they would be a perfect theme to celebrate and represent the moms in my life. A Mother’s Day Flamingle was such a blast, but you recreate this fun theme for any occasion!
I started with a backdrop of tropical leaves and an array of pink and coral honeycomb balls I found at Oriental Trading. I found these darling tissue palm flamingos at Michaels and they fit with the backdrop perfectly.
For the centerpiece I thought it would be fun to do a craft with my daughter, so we ventured to the dollar store and found so many fun goodies. We found the lawn flamingos and lots of summer flowers. Also, we got a foam ring that fit perfectly around the flamingo, we cut the floral stems and attached them all the way around the foam ring. We placed the flamingo in a grass plant and it was the perfect centerpiece!
I found some darling watercolor flamingo prints online and knew they would be a perfect addition to the dessert table. My favorite image was the momma and baby flamingo chick, so sweet.
No party is complete with out a variety of desserts! I made strawberry shortcake shooters, my moms favorite dessert. These were a hit, fresh and delicious! There is something so fun about eating with a little spoon. I made some fabulous sugar cookies, with a beautiful sugar wafer paper image applied to them.
This decorating tip for cookies is so easy and really makes a big impact. These were super easy to apply, I lightly frosted each cookie with icing (I used Betty Crocker’s buttercream recipe, so yummy). Then cut the paper to size and pressed onto the cookie, wiping away the excess frosting from the edges. Then after I applied all the images I piped little stars with a Wilton #18 tip around the edges. This helped to seal the edges of the image down on the cookie and added the finishing touch. They turned out really cute and bonus tasted amazing, I couldn’t tell there was sugar paper applied.
We had a fajita bar for dinner and for refreshments I served water with fresh lemon and strawberry slices. For the adults we had Sangria with orange wedges, delicious!
I made individual arrangements for each guest that attended the dinner, a sweet gift to show them they are thought of is always a nice gesture.”
