It’s true, for years televisions have played hours of Dora, Boots and Swiper for delighted preschoolers everywhere. Truth be told, I know that my kids still love to watch Dora and her pals solve challenges on their adventures. I even remember the first time I saw an episode of Dora. I was at my friend’s house, hanging out with her and her cute little girl, Lydia. Dora came on the TV and we all had a great time helping Dora solve the obstacles in her way.
But, Lydia is all grown up now (at least she thinks so!) and so is Dora! So, if you think you know Dora…think again! The adventure begins when Dora and the Lost City of Gold hits theatres August 9! Read on to see more about the “grown-up” birthday party I recently styled for Lydia, as she celebrated her birthday and the fun new movie about to hit theaters! Lydia and her best friends just LOVED this gold-hued, jungle-inspired Dora and the Lost City of Gold party!
This isn’t your baby girls Dora! This new movie is for everyone to enjoy! From kids to grandmas and everyone in between! You see, having spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents, nothing could prepare Dora (Isabela Moner) for her most dangerous adventure ever – High School. Always the explorer, Dora quickly finds herself leading Boots (her best friend, a monkey), Diego (Jeffrey Wahlberg), a mysterious jungle inhabitant (Eugenio Derbez), and a ragtag group of teens on a live-action adventure to save her parents (Eva Longoria, Michael Peña) and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost city of gold.
Dora and the Lost City of Gold Party
You won’t have to explore very far to find the pot of gold at this tween party! I’ve got a HUGE gold Rolo-filled jar! A perfect compliment for the Dora cupcakes!
I made sure to include sophisticated gold elements as well as jungle items such as these coconuts placed on palm plates. Don’t miss the gold flatware!
We personalized this Dora party by swapping out Dora’s name for the guest of honor: Lydia!
Fruit and chocolate charcuterie board: what more could anyone ask for?
The balloon installation over the main party table is one of my favorite elements from the party! I also included earthy elements like the rattan pouf for a tired mom to take a rest!
We’ve found the gold!
I think that no matter the party theme, it is important to always include a few floral elements!
Don’t you just love this naked cake? The girls did too!!
Another nod to the subtle gold theme: chocolate gold bars
More scrumptious cupcakes topped with Ferrero Rocher gold chocolates.
I hope you enjoyed the party! Don’t forget, Dora and the Lost City of Gold hits theatres August 9th! You can get your tickets here: https://tickets.dora.movie
