End of Summer Watermelon Party
This is what Krysten shared about planning/styling the party:
“It’s a watermelon seed party! My 2-year-old is absolutely obsessed with the adorable book, The Watermelon Seed. She is much like her mama and has been asking to have a party all about watermelons. What better reason than to throw an end of summer party, all about watermelons.
We invited all her friends and really just spiced up a typical summer playdate with friends. I wanted to keep things as simple as possible on the food end as well as the activity side of things. I served watermelon inspired popcorn, which was to die for! For the recipe, I used a bag of microwave popcorn added white chocolate and topped with various items within the color scheme, such as pink and mint mini marshmallows, sour patch kids’ watermelon candy and an assortment of jimmies.
I kept to a fairly typical red and green color pallet but added touches of pinks, mint, and even chartreuse. The kids enjoyed watermelon on a stick and custom watercolor sugar cookies that looked like watermelon slices.
As an activity, it was all about balloons. Simple, but always a hit with all ages of kids. A watermelon pool filled with balloons. The kids loved it and it was easy and cheap!
Mom’s enjoyed a simple cheese board and frosé. It was a wonderful afternoon enjoying the last few weeks of summer!”
