Enchanting Backyard Halloween Party
This is what Juliette said about planing/styling the party:
“When Alan, who’s known for his meticulous style and lavish parties, asked us to help him with his Halloween party, we were super excited but knew we had to deliver. The pressure was on but we were up for the challenge! The first thing that struck us during the initial visit of his back yard was just how charming and enchanted it was. Replete with lush greens and little nooks and grannies that you could get lost in, we knew that this was the perfect backdrop for a magical Halloween party.
Thinking Outside the Box
One of the first challenges that we encountered was how to fit 75 people in his back yard and have enough seating for people to be comfortable while eating. To gain extra space, we decided to use his driveway that was connected to the backyard. But of course, as all driveways do, it opens out into the street so we had to find a way to make it an enclosed space for privacy. The solution was a giant balloon wall of course! :) Our inspiration was to make a rickety-looking shack facade entirely out of balloons. We added giant black balloons spiders to add to the spooky-ness factor. For seating, we added long banquet tables that spanned the long narrow pathways of the backyard. Visually, this worked out since it complimented the design of the back yard.
The next task was: how do we entertain a large number of kids for 2 hours? The answer was 1 magic show, crafting tables, and pumpkin decorating. We thought the crafting tables were the perfect way for the kids to settle into the party and get creative (which had on theme Halloween crafts). We also added a pumpkin decorating component which meant that we created a mini pumpkin patch for kids to choose their pumpkins from. The highlight of the evening was Nathaniel, the magician, who somehow got all the kids’ unequivocal attention for 45 min!
The night ended with cake and sweets-LOTS of sweets. But what’s Halloween without copious amounts of sugar? :) All in all, Alan was really happy with the way the party turned out. We even had some nosy neighbors try to crash the party! I would too if I saw that balloon wall from the outside. People talked about the party for days and we were so honored to be a part of this super fun Halloween party!”
