Colorful Seaside Birthday Party
This is what Alissa said about planning/styling the party:
“Putting on a birthday party for twin siblings (boy and girl) is no easy feat. we have been lucky enough to put on several parties for the Schumacher family. Both siblings (Christian & Scarlette) each have their own idea of what they want, so every year their mom, Jaime, has to come up with a concept that works for both a boy and a girl, so neither child feels left out. This year, Jamie thought the beach, was the best way to achieve a gender-neutral party for her 2, 9-year olds.
With one week to pull off a fantastic party that her kids would love, we put together a fun, carefree beach party. For this we played with a rainbow color scheme to make sure it met every color that both boys and girls would love. This also helped allow us to find product in the quantities we needed in a short timeframe!
To make sure guests knew where they were going upon arrival we built rainbow balloon columns with cloud bases and a custom wood welcome sign feature the guests of honor.
Target and their new summer line (Sun Squad) was our best friend on this one. We used fun colored umbrellas for shade cover. each kid got their own beach chair, towel, pool float, and toy sand bucket filled with sunscreen, sunglasses, and a shovel with gummy worms to take home. We added cute tags to the sand pails that ready “I did our friendship! Thanks for celebration with C&S”.
We made 2 areas, one for kids, and one for the adults, with additional Shade, which also housed the food and beverages for each. kids had mini star PB&J sandwiches, turkey & cheese pinwheels, frozen grapes, cucumber hearts, etc. While adults had ahi tuna, pasta salad, and some fun adult bevs!
And what kids party isn’t complete without a candy station? We did two separate each themed cakes for Christian and Scarlette. The candy bar was the perfect place to really build up this look and make it fun with a rainbow themed candy bar.
While the kids had the beach to play, Jamie really wanted to make sure they didn’t get bored, so we added a volleyball game, bean bag toss, and a few other elements to make sure the kids were occupied.
Our main attraction item was the sand sculpting team who built Christian and Scarlette a sand castle and birthday message during the party so all could see and interact. The sculptors also took time to show some of the kids how to build special and effective sand castles.
We know all those kids left happy, full, and exhausted! It was a great time for family and friends to get together in a relaxing yet fun environment and the kids had a ball! We’re still trying to see how we can get one of those pizza floats ourselves!”
