January is waning. I believe we have all sufficiently come down from the holiday high that we were on in November and December. We are now in serious need of an adventure! A little something to give some spice to life once again as we push through the bleak mid-winter. What would you say to an epic adventure??
You know you are just itching to experience a thrill in the lush wilderness of the jungle; make friends with the animals and have a good laugh. Luckily, the new movie DOLITTLE is just what you need to fill the need for adventure, and it’s in theaters this weekend!
Filled with heart, humor and globe-trotting excitement, DOLITTLE is a must-see for the whole family. And, fans of all ages will revel as Robert Downey Jr. electrifies one of literature’s most enduring characters in a vivid reimagining of the classic tale of the man who could talk to animals. The film featured an all-star cast voicing all the animals including Selena Gomez as Betsy the Giraffe!
When the movie is over, you can keep the party going with a little celebration inpsired by DOLITTLE! I’ve designed a party spread with a nod to the ship featured in the movie and a whole animal-themed set-up that will entertain one and all. This idea is great for birthday parties or even a Dolittle themed baby shower.
Get your tickets to see DOLITTLE in theaters and then get ready to party with my easy tips for stellar celebration withDoctor Dolittle and his animal friends.
Look at those faces! Two fantastic and engaging characters hop from the movie screen to the party scene. Chee-Chee the Gorilla is voiced by Rami Malek in DOLITTLE. Such an amazing cast!
I used two barrels and a large sheet of wood to create a table for my party. Then, I added fishing nets as a nod to the ship as well as the rope and bits of jungle greenery. I created the feeling of the sails from the ship by hanging fabric and securing it with extra rope. Finally, I robbed by little one’s toy box for her collection of jungle animals. They did nicely placed around the table.
Look at the jungle vines! I took kraft paper and wound them up into vines and then bent them to fit in and around the platters of food at the table. This is a great part to have the kids help with!
The kraft paper also came in handy to create these DIY DOLITTLE Twinkie Ships. I used long skewers with squares of paper for the sails. The kids had so much fun playing with their ship before they gobbled them up.
Another big hit was the “animal dip” I had for the kids to dip the animal crackers. With kids, a dip is always a hit!
The pictures from the movie were important for the visual look, but it also made for fun conversation as we talked about our favorite parts!
Don’t you just want to get your paws on these “tiger paws” snacks? So fun!
To ensure the kiddos take advantage of the healthy food too, I gave them the enthralling name of “snake eyes”.
Everyone wants to be a gorilla with this stack of bananas calling our names!
I used all of the wooden platters and bowls I had in my home, as well as the baskets and crates to finish off the “out to sea/jungle” theme.
I don’t know why I love these chocolate muffin standing ostriches so much, but they are one of my favorite elements!
Don’t miss this epic adventure! It opens in theaters this Friday, January 17. Escape to a fun-filled world and have a wild party to boot! Get your tickets today!
