Muted + Modern Lego Birthday Party
This is what Sabrina shared about the party:
“Hands down, kids’ parties are my favorite celebrations to design. So, when my niece’s and nephew’s birthdays are coming up, I always want to put my spin on the party theme they have in mind. When my adorable nephew, Collin, told me he wanted a “Lego” party, the look on my eyes said it all. I was thinking of all the primary colors that normally come along with Lego. The first step to put a Golden Arrow spin was to come up with a color scheme. I settled on black, white, and sage. This color palette is super modern but still perfect for a boy’s 9th birthday.
From there, we started building all the elements to create the most epic celebration for my little man! I enlisted my favorite calligrapher and graphic designer friend @pirouettepapercompany to create the mud cloth inspired backdrop. The pattern is simple but still made a statement.
Next, the @ohhappyday grid plates have been on my list to use but I have been waiting for the perfect event to use them! I balanced out the plates with a solid black napkin and @sophisiplate black and white forks. We searched high and low for a modern sage green cup to tie into tabletop setup, but had no luck. So my sister, Summer, (the DIY queen) created the rad cups. To finish off the design, I had my talented laser cut friend @creativeamme to make the awesome Lego face place cards and stir-sticks. These elements tied the tabletop together perfectly. Plus, the kids got to take them home as a keepsake!
For the finishing touches I sourced Lego bricks and other decor from Amazon. That website has been a lifesaver during the pandemic! Another DIY project I needed was to create the custom sage green Lego bricks. Spray painting those little guys wasn’t the easiest task, however the final product was a WOW! The sage pieces made me not scared of Lego colors anymore.
A birthday wouldn’t be a birthday without a jaw-dropping cake right? The brilliant team at @sweetnsaucyshop made the picture-perfect desserts, which are just as yummy as they are pretty. My nephew selected the style of the Lego face, which totally expresses his funny side and the way he looks at his Aunties when we’re up to one of our fun pranks. My family is obsessed with @pacificorganicpops, and their mini cart is definitely the way to go for small gatherings. We love that they use fresh organic ingredients (my favorite flavor is Pineapple Chili Lime).
The final touches were our balloon installations on a pop cart and the backdrop. The sage balloons were a custom color we created, and I loved how they paired up with the other colors. Much love to @nolafontanezphotography for capturing all the details and to my handsome birthday boy. We will treasure this celebration for many years!”
