Floral Boho 40th Birthday Fiesta
This is what Juliette said about styling the event:
“For my sister’s 40th birthday, we had plans to go to Scotland, but due to the pandemic, we couldn’t celebrate in a big way like we had planned. We still wanted to celebrate together since this was her milestone birthday. My sister lives in Seattle and we live in California, so we decided to meet at a half way point which happened to be Bend, Oregon.
Planning a party from another state was definitely a learning experience since we had to use all new vendors. But thankfully, we found some really awesome people that pulled through!
Sweets & More:
I quickly learned that the trick to planning party long distance was doing as much as we could beforehand and sourcing everything as much as we could before getting there. For example, I ordered the cookies from a local vendor and just brought them to Oregon with me. Also to make things less complicated, I had a friend make cake toppers (who I’ve worked with on many occasions) before the trip and just opted to have a plain white cake made in Bend so I could just add them on top.
One of my favorite features of the party was the personalized place card holders that I made out of white selenite crystals and copper wire. My sister has a hippie side so I knew she would get a kick out of incorporating white crystals. The white crystals also played coordinated well with the white papel picado that we used. We draped them all along the ceiling to give the party a fiesta vibe.
I must have called all the florists in Bend and no one was available for our date. I finally found someone that was willing to sell me flowers by the stem so I decided to design the floral arrangements myself. A special thank you to the ladies at Wildflowers of Oregon for your gorgeous flowers! I have never arranged flowers so fast in my life since I only had a few hours to prepare before the big reveal! Alas, as all events do, everything came together very last minute and my sister loved all the decor.
We ordered some super yummy tacos, put on festive tunes and had so much fun just being together as a family. COVID may have put a damper on our travel plans, but celebrating together as a family isn’t cancelled!”
