Modern Americana 4th of July Party
Modern Americana 4th of July Party Details:
“The fourth of July holds a special place for us at House Of Fete as it marks the anniversary of our first styled shoot as a company. As with every shoot, we wait for something that inspires us to create. This time it was a plate design from Rice and was the catalyst to our Modern Americana 4th of July Shoot. The simple stripe design was both modern and traditional without being too much of either.
After creating a mood board (this happens very quickly for us after we find our inspiration), we knew we had to contact our go to team for this one, starting with Danville Cheese. Nicole, who styled the food, was also our host for the day. We also reached out to Cami Monet, who designed a collection around this theme. We wanted to include an out of this world July fourth experience, complete with a bar cart, for adults and children. An amazing flag was a must, plus cotton candy for the kiddos and a simple yet chic table that would tie the Modern Americana theme together.
Let’s talk about the balloon flag wall! Lindsi, from Collective Creative Co, really outdid herself with a 20-foot balloon flag. She tied in the hints of modern colors with pinks and creams and it really was one of the connective threads throughout the set. In front of the flag, were ever-so-sweet rattan kids chairs hand painted by Marissa of House of Fete. They were painted in six different colors in shades of both pink and blue, to create the ombre affect we wanted.
Food & Drinks:
Bruno (the bar cart) was decked out with disco balls, PBR and of course, Kool-Aid for the kids. He had a personalized watercolor sign that read “Oh My Stars” which incorporated the stripes from our original inspiration. We also adorned him with balloons and garlands. Plus, we layered him with florals and sweets! A half cake made by Kelsey from House of Fete and inspired by Bee’s Cake was decorated by Apis Floral. It became the show stopper. The added details of a ‘Sparkle’ sign (from Against the Grain) and the ‘Firecrackers’ sign (from Chalks Designs By Me) really drove home the ombre feel that would be a staple in our other elements.
The food, and treats where artfully displayed on and around the table to give it that true at-home feel. Danville Cheese created and styled the most yummy boards that included one of just fries and hotdogs. The word you’re looking for is ‘Yum’. Then, Soiree Macarons made star and color blocked Macarons and fresh pavlovas. The Sugar Bug did it again with hand painted cookies adding the sweetness that we were all looking for after our savory treats.
Each kiddo also had personalized tag on their retro coolers. Let’s be honest here, every kid needs their own cooler for their snacks and juices! Finally, it’s not a party without cotton candy. So, cue the cotton candy cart with a festive sign and pink and blue cotton candy!
The table was simple yet a stunner. It was a basic picnic table with a watercolor ‘Star Spangled Banner’ table runner. We DIY-ed a Sugar and Cloth candle holder and filled it with red, white and teal tapper candles. We lit it once the sun went down for some extra sparkle. The table was set with red, pink and blue cups. And, of course, we included the plates that inspired it all. Each setting had a pennant from Cami’s collection and a themed stir stick. The foot of the table had gorgeous florals inside of a disco ball vase and we completed the table with a star chandelier and star garlands.
In the end, we accomplished what we had set out to do and the kids had a blast running around and eating all the things, while us adults indulged in a macaron or two and a PBR, toasting to the great US of A! This was one of our favorite birthday parties we’ve thrown. After all, it’s not often that something turns 245! Happy Birthday, America! Cheers!” – House of Fete
