Party Details:

“We celebrated my daughter’s 8th birthday with a vibrant and fun-filled party that perfectly captured the groovy retro hippy summer vibes. It was a day full of laughter, love, and unforgettable memories! We transformed grandma’s living room into a retro paradise, adorned with bright and colorful decorations. The space was filled with balloons in shades of orange, yellow, and pink, creating a cheerful and lively atmosphere that was great for the summer! The focal point of the decor was the stunning display featuring the cake, surrounded by shimmering silver streamers and disco balls, adding a touch of sparkle to the celebration. The balloons went across the room from wall to wall, because we wanted to make a statement! The outdoor tablescape was a beautiful blend of retro charm and summer elegance. Pink chairs surrounding a wooden table set with vibrant, colorful plates, pink glasses, and an array of flowers in soft but fun, summery hues. Tall candles in shades of orange, yellow, and white added height and a touch of whimsy to the setting. Mini disco balls were scattered around, reflecting light and enhancing the festive atmosphere. And each girly got to take home a fun disco ball cup! My favorite part of the party was the multi-colored birthday cake inspired by shaggy rugs. The cake featured a beautiful blend of orange, yellow, and white with intricate flower designs, embodying the retro theme perfectly. Topped with a groovy number 8 and colorful balloons, the cake was as delightful to look at as it was to eat. It was delicious! We also had a matching editorial photoshoot for the prints surrounding the cake area to add some extra color! The florals were truly epic, scattered throughout the venue, bringing an extra layer of beauty and vibrancy. Arrangements of daisies, roses, and other summer blooms in pastel and bright colors added a whimsical and fresh touch to the overall decor. Julie killed it! These flowers, combined with mini disco balls, created a perfect blend of retro and modern elements. We made custom tents for each girl, providing a cozy and whimsical setting for the slumber party. Each tent was uniquely designed with custom name tags and had a bright and girly pattern featuring a flower motif. The tent beds came in different colors that I found matching fabric for to correspond with the flower pattern on the tent. Personalized baskets with goodies were placed in each tent, adding a special touch to the slumber party experience because I wanted it to feel like each girl was super special to the birthday girl! Each guest received a thoughtfully curated gift bag filled with delightful goodies. The bags included: Sunglasses: Retro-style sunglasses to match the groovy theme. Nail Stickers: Fun and colorful nail stickers for a bit of stylish fun. Love You More Box: A small box with a sweet message, perfect for storing little treasures that contained a little note from the birthday girl. Assorted Treats and Goodies like lip glosses and a vintage camera so each girly could document their experience through their own eyes! (We got the cameras developed and scrap booked them the next year because we moved across the country and it was a fun thing for her to remind herself of the friendships, they were some funny photos) Our beautiful charcuterie board was a vibrant and delightful spread of treats, perfectly aligning with the retro theme. It featured an assortment of strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and watermelon slices with mixed in Mini cupcakes with swirled icing, doughnut holes, marshmallow pops with sprinkles, and colorful frosted cookies. Boston is a sweets girl! So we wanted it to reflect her! There were some savory bites for the others girls like cheese shapes, crackers, and pretzels, and lightly salted popcorn adding a crunchy element. A chocolate dipping sauce in a pink flower-shaped bowl for a sweet touch! As a special treat, each girl received a pair of luxurious silk pajamas to wear for the slumber party. The pajamas were beautiful white and the birthday girl had pink! We custom made a wooden rack with coordinating hangers that held each set hanging neatly under a colorful balloon garland. The smooth, silky fabric added an extra layer of comfort and elegance, making each guest feel pampered and special. The pajamas, coupled with the retro “Groovy” sign and sparkling disco balls, added a touch of sophistication to the playful atmosphere to the space! The little pink gift bags held an array of prizes for the games we played later on in the day! The games were a little chaotic, but we played twister and had some trivia games. Each girl got a prize though, so that nobody felt left out and nobody won twice! It was truly a magical day! The girls had the best time, and a memorable one! I probably won’t throw another one until she is 16! But I truly loved making this day so special and groovy for my girl! It was one for the books!
