Shake it off and step into this 1989 Taylor Swift Inspired Birthday Party, submitted by Sheila Skunca of Barranqueras, Chaco, Argentina!
Inspired by both the original 2014 album and the 2023 Taylor’s Version release, the celebration mixes breezy beach details with iconic New York City style. A cool blue palette, silver shimmer wall and disco-ball balloons set the stage for a dessert table filled with clever Swiftie references.
From Polaroid-inspired sweets and cassette tapes to Statue of Liberty accents, lyric details and ocean-inspired treats, every element brings the two sides of the 1989 era together.
This 1989 Taylor Swift Inspired Birthday Party also offers an easy blueprint for combining two distinct looks without losing a cohesive feel. Repeating shades of blue across the balloons, cake stands, candy and custom graphics connects the beach-inspired pieces to the New York references. Silver shimmer and disco-ball details add sparkle, while the yellow taxi, Statue of Liberty and Polaroid-style treats make the album inspiration immediately recognizable. Small lyric references, paper airplanes and music-note cookies give Swifties plenty of details to discover throughout the display.
When planning your own 1989-themed celebration, begin with a tight blue, white and silver palette, then choose a few statement elements for the backdrop and dessert table. Mix larger decorations with close-up details such as themed cupcakes, cassette-tape sweets and starfish treats so the design feels layered without becoming crowded.
