Two-A-Saurus Dinosaur Garden Party Details:
This is what Jessica said about planning/styling the party- I wanted to have a modern, inviting Dino Party, and started off with the color palette of Black and White. I then added some bright colors to make it more kid friendly. Bright Yellow, Blue, Green, and Pink were mainly used to create a friendly atmosphere for both the boys and girls at the party. The structured color pallete of black and white with pops of color made the party whole stand out against our lush home garden.
I was able to find an awesome watercolor painting by ELFSHOPPE on Etsy, which I emulated both for my online invite and also my cake table backdrop, which I ended up painting myself with Acrylic paint. The Cake Table also featured a multi-shaded yellow balloon drape, which I managed to make with chicken wire, tape and glue dots. I hand printed dino footprints on plain white tablecloth, to include some more Black and White and enable the colors to pop. Black accessories for cake stand and dessert stands allowed the colorful desserts to display prominently. Spray-painted Dollar Store dinos with different types of ferns, gave it a finishing touch.
The Kids Table was my next major design element. I wanted to make it fun & inviting for the kids so that they could comfortably sit and eat without wanting to get up all the time. I started off with the colorful & amazing Dino Egg containers I found at a Dollar Store during Easter time. It was able to hold a fruit cup, juice box, a small dino toy and a quesadilla freshly made. From there, I added some pop of Black and White with striped party hats bought off Amazon. Colorful spikes added a modern and colorful touch to the hats. Varied types of ferns softened the look of the table. Black party favor boxes with intricate cut outs bought from Party City, housed “Grow a Dinosaur” eggs for the kids to take home. Topped off with Clear balloons filled with confetti and a blue number 2 balloon to bring the color scheme up higher off the tables.
The kids were able to enjoy some activities such as a Dino Dig with sand and dino bone toys found on Amazon. With wood handled dig tools, it kept the kids occupied for awhile. Next we had an egg hunt with small plastic eggs filled with dino tattoos, dinos and candy. Then I let the kids run to a mound of huge paper mache dino eggs to pick their own to crack open. Larger favors were found inside. We also had an erupting neon green volcano with pink lava, and a craft table with Paint A Square painting activity. And then for the finale, Kid’s Reptile Party brought an assortment of reptiles for kids to touch and see. It was a big hit with both adults and kids!WHAT PEOPLE ATE
