Popeye + Sailor Party Details:This is what Natasha said about planning and designing the party-
“When I started brainstorming the theme for my baby boys 1st birthday party, I had no idea which way I would take it. With my daughter, a theme came to me easily. But with my son, I didnt have anything! A common question I often got was. “So..how is it having two babies now?” I would always say, so far, so good, its been smooth sailing. Its been smooth sailing? There it is! Theres the theme for my baby boy! Year one of raising baby #2 has been great. He has been such a blessing, and super easy on us. Thank Goodness! So I went with a sailor boy theme, Shane sailed into One!
Invitation I kept a vibrant color palette of red white yellow and hues of blue.
I anchored the party from the front door! A simple anchor with fishing net and his first initial welcomed our guested to Shanes Sailor Boy 1st birthday celebration. The table was set with blue linens and strips of burlap. Each place setting included burger baskets ready to be filled with seafood lunches, milk bottles adorned with jute twine and paper straws with sail flags. Centerpieces were stripe boats filled with yellow florals, Spinach cans overflowing with yummy green apple popcorn spinach. Every sailor needs his spinach…right? I dressed up the cutest tot size chivari chair with sailor hats for the kids to decorate and make their own, and burlap bags to be filled with sweet treats later.
DIY- I crafted a giant #1 out of cardboard and crape paper, a boat with waves, and an anchor which served as décor as well as a photo prop. The kids had a blast all piling into the boat with their sailor hats on. Needless to say by the end of the party the boat was in much need of repair. ?
– I also crafted his name made from rope to match his name on the invitation.
-Burlap Favor bags were customized with stenciled anchors, sailboats and ship wheels and embellished with a cute favor tag.
-A ship wheel banner with each stage of Shanes first year was placed top a fabric garland backdrop (which is a must at my parties).
-Ship dock pier post made from tall vases, drawer liners and rope.
Staying with the sailor/nautical theme I decided to prepare food snacks related to the sea. Children had seafood lunches which consisted of fish and crab (cheese, and turkey) sandwiches, mac and cheese, and fish sticks. Adults were also treated to lots seafood appetizers. Sliders were available for those who preferred not to eat seafood.
Desserts included Spinach Can Cake Pops, Spinach Can Sugar Cookies, Rice Krispies Treats, Cupcakes, Chocolate covered Oreos, Jello Shooters, and Chocolate covered pretzel rods. There were lots of sweets for our little guests to fill up their party bags.
A vintage High Chair was a must since I collect and rent all colors! I custom painted this gorgeous vintage highchair in a bright blue and embellished it with a red and white striped fabric garland and a one pennant banner.
All of my fabulous vendors did an amazing job helping me to make Shane’s 1st birthday party memorable and a success”!
