Vintage Rainbow Party Details:This is what Anna said about planning/styling the party-
“One of our daughters turned 10 this year and wanted a rainbow party. I was challenged as this very popular theme has been done so well by professional party stylists and lots of wealthy mothers. Although I didn’t have a fortune to spend on the party, I still wanted it to be marvellously colourful and exciting to reflect the vibrancy of this particular daughter’s bubbly personality. I also wanted to create a rainbow party with a difference, that didn’t blend into the abyss of Pinterest party pages! So I set out to put a vintage twist on the common Rainbow party theme, with a hint of my 1970’s childhood memories in the mix. I began by using my two gorgeous chenille bedspreads as tablecloths. I found cheap coloured fabric and paper pom poms to use as the backdrop. I chose to use budget friendly coloured ribbons on the invitations, and followed the theme through to the Thank You take home bags. My daughters helped sew felt clou ds onto these to add texture. I wrapped coloured wool around the glass milk bottles and my girls cut out paper clouds to go onto the straws. Coloured jelly beans filled plastic bottles as extra take home treats.
The menu consisted of sugar cookies decorated as clouds, Tim Tam cake pops, coloured lollies and Hummingbird cupcakes. What Rainbow party is complete without an unassuming rainbow cake! All sweets were made by myself.
I am not a big fan of structured party games. I prefer old fashioned play time to feed the children’s creativity and let them enjoy each other. However, as it was a special 10th birthday party, I did want to have one activity for the children to do, so we had a time of decorating cupcakes, which all of the children enjoyed.
I made rainbow take home bags with coloured Twizzlers, (which are very difficult to buy in Australia!) and gold coins.
This was such a special party for our Charlotte. Every detail was meticulously thought out and brought together to make a wonderful Vintage Rainbow party.”
Keep it colorful and fun with these birthday parties:
