Donut Party Details
This is what Jessica said about designing and styling this party- “Donuts, Donuts, & more donuts came from our pint size client, who actually is my daughter. Chandler was turning 3 years old & when I asked her what she wanted to eat at her party her response was Donuts! So we went Donut crazy & decided to have a party devoted to her favorite treat.
I love invitations & I truly think that brings the fun of the event to life. It is truly the first impression that your guests receive and sets the mood for the party. Twisted Sisters Catering & Events loves to work with local vendors to help make all of our parties perfect so I contacted our graphic guru, Stormy McCallon from Hunny Bit Designs to help me capture on paper what I visioned. I knew I wanted to capture a fun invitation that was unique just like Chandler. My vision was to have a colorful donut invitation filled with actual sprinkles inside a vellum envelope adorned with a matching address & return address label. They turned out to be one of my favorite invitations that we have done to date. However, it was the first time that I have ever mailed an invitation with sprinkles or any food for that matter so I had to get feedback from all of our guests. Overall, they traveled well except for the a few of them that had to travel far. So, going forward if I know that the invitation should arrive in a day I would do it again or I would just include a clear bag of sprinkles in the envelope to accompany the invitation. But, regardless our guests loved them & thought they were so much fun!
In planning any party we love to get ideas and suggestions from our clients & this one was no different. My daughter Chandler for sure has her own idea even at the age of 3. So she was a huge influence in the party. We knew that we wanted to have an assortment of donuts including a donut bar where each guest could add there own special toppings as they wish. This was a favorite for the children. They topped there donuts with icing, marshmallows, fruity pebbles, & gummy worms just to name a few. After designing their own donut they sat at a kids table fit for the ultimate donut lover! I love to make a kids table super special that they actually want to sit down for at least a little while that is. I love to layer the tables with a table cloth, butcher paper, & then wrapping paper. Wrapping paper is my absolute favorite thing to use. Not only is it super cute but, it’s disposable & great on a budget. I found this super cute donut wrapping paper at Targe t and fell in love. Also, on the tables we had custom coloring pages, buckets of colors, & some green & white striped donut hats for each guest. The donut hats were from Krispy Kreme that I tweaked with scrapbook paper to match the party. At each place setting they had their very own plastic milk container topped with ribbon, striped straw, & a delicious sugar cookie that was made to look like a donut.
For the Sweets & Treats table we had an assortment of donuts with milk, juices, & a DIY coffee bar with a mini Keurig with Donut coffee pods. The food was under more donut wrapping paper that I used as runners on all the tables & counters!
I also love to have signage. I believe that it just brings the party to life. So we had several custom signs framed throughout the party to make a special statement. One of our main focal points was the super cute cake made by *Megnificent Designs*. She even made the sprinkle donuts that topped the cake. It was delicious as well as beautiful! Behind the cake was a large donut pinata to bring it all together.
For party activities other than decorating the donut, we had a donut Tattoo station, face painter, & a super cute Donut truck for a photo backdrop. The donut truck was cut out of plywood & my sweet husband painted painted it white, pink, & yellow. The wheels he even painted to look like sprinkle donuts! We decided to add a large inflatable donut on top to tie it all together. The outcome was perfect & exactly what I visioned!
The party was super sweet & fun just like Chandler! Guests went home with Donut Dough (which was actually containers of play doh), donut holes, & even extra donut tattoos!”
